Amazing lesson, learned more from you in six minutes, than I did reading on the net. If you haven't heard "East-West" by The Butterfield Blues Band, you should really check that track! Indian influenced, though I don't think that they tuned the way you does, but an amazing song anyways. Makes no sense though how Mike's playing it. Anyways, thanks for the lesson!
@MoGamesHD The b string and d string don't get tuned to f#. The G string is the first one that gets tuned to F#, and to do so compare it to the 2nd fret of the high E string. To tune the A string down to F#, tune it to the other F# string (G string) until it's an octave lower than it.
@DLJR33P - I actually studied many different traditional indian ragas at one point in my youth and even had a restaurant gig playing "sitar guitar" at one point. There are certain sort of "themes" that involve certain scales and time signatures, with certain accidentals and key riffs. Melody is everything, and when it comes down to it, if it sounds good, it is good. Just look up some ravi shankar for a good example of sitar mastery
Cool vid and nice technique, but it still sounds a lot like a guitar... You should try the spoon too and with that playing style it'll probably sound really similar!
ok bro i did tune like u only the 5 n 6 r tuned the same check my vid i give you credit for tuning. look for sals sitar style

What kind of chord do you tune in?
Jurgen5586 1 year ago
@Jurgen5586 - As explained at the beginning of the video, the tuning from high to low is E, B, F#, B, F#, B
leskop 1 year ago
@leskop Okay. Are there other tuning that sounds good aswell?
Jurgen5586 1 year ago
@Jurgen5586 - I'm sure there are, but for doing sitar on guitar this is my "go-to" tuning so to speak
