@techyum I LOVE porn but lets be real. Porn exploits EVERYONE who is messed up enough to perform in it.MEN &WOMEN! Honestly I DONT care because I think its GREAT! You threw out some facts like 1/3 of watchers are women .But Im sure that WELL over 1 in 3 porn performers have been sexually abused as kids. And we NEED a constant stream of these damaged people to make our porn. And that IS exploitation, BUT so what? Porn is great because it IS filthy & dirty &exploitative! Lets call a duck a duck
I love porn. I Always have. But I do think that it MOST DEFINITELY exploits damaged and vulnerable people.BOTH men AND women !!! but so what? That fact wont stop me from jacking off to it.What it comes down to is that it makes big CASH off the exploitation of very exploitable people.Look at the studio heads of the major porn companies...pretty much the same group of money grubbing scumbags that run Hollywood & wall-street. MONEY Is always what matters to these people....

@imbilica Thanks for posting this. I'm not anti-porn, but a lot of the mainstream porn out there is abusive and violent towards the women involved. Its a shame though, that Violet or Techyum can't make a serious rebuttal. Instead, they make you into a caricature at the same time they claim to be victims of generalization (as Violet did in this video).
Let's say porn is a billboard. Not *all* billboards are sexist and detrimental to women of course! Its a billboard! But a billboard with a sexist and/or derogatory image or conveyed meaning is nonetheless sexist and derogatory :)
I believe their is healthy porn for all to enjoy out there somewhere! I've just . . . not seen any (as of yet!) :)
I don't think "porn" in itself is degrading- I think degrading porn is degrading! I'd very much enjoy pornography if it didn't involve derogatory terms, violent themes, and camera shots from strictly male perspectives.
There are plenty of alternative and queer porn sites out there that are spear headed by women; my issue comes into unfortunately being born heterosexual and not quite enjoying the total absence of men in pornography.
Isn't there some way porn can be healthy to both women and men?
why do you feel the need to defend the porn industry? Anti porn feminists barely make up a fraction of the discourse on the matter, the incredible pervasiveness of porn in our culture speaks for itself. And besides, its not stop porn, its stop porn culture, which I think most people can agree on as being alarming and vulgar especially when we consider that children are being exposed to these things at an incredibly young age.
I may have some disagreements with Violet Blue on some issues, but on this issue she is a freakin' WARRIOR for calling a spade a spade and a phony woman-hating pseudo-feminist prude a....well, you get the picture. Well done and done well, madame.
And..I am simply unapologetic about being a viewer of and a supporter of non-degrading, consensual, adult porn, because, quite simply, the women are not only intellegent and gutsy for taking on such a profession in the midst of such vapid and repressive opposition, but they are simply too damn HOT. And they for the most part not only do what they do willingly and openly, but they do it well enough to deserve respect and proper praise. In short, HUMAN BEINGS.worthy of respect, not pity.
Oh..and for you, TheCeltiberian: I happen to BE a libertarian socialist, a feminist supporter AND a radical Black man who supports the right of women to sexual self-determination. I also think that those who are in the line of fire -- meaning sex workers and performers themselves -- should have the ultimate say in how they are treated in doing their livelihood.
@AnthonyJKenn "meaning sex workers and performers themselves -- should have the ultimate say in how they are treated in doing their livelihood. " Oh really?!?! How about the people who they affect from their "ultimate say", ie the mass public.
On the other hand, it is so fascinating to see certain activists decide to quote as proof for their biases the very people whom they have consistently slammed in other venues for...well, not being biased enough in their favor. They do know that Donnerstein and Malmuth and Wosnitzer actually concluded the diametrically opposite of what they claim, do they?? But, why let actual fact get in the way of a good hate, right??
WOW. I am so impressed with the vitriol and roundhouse insults and circular arguments that some antiporn "feminist" extremists have shown here towards both Violet and IACB for defending something as simple as the right of WOMEN to view and produce sexually explicit material for their own pleasure. (I won't even get into the assault on men's right to enjoy consensual adult porn on their own merits, since that would be beyond some people's comprehensive skills.)
@BlackLaval You have no idea who this person is. This person is a gender supremacist femtroll that has spammed tons of video comments and harassed tons of users. And there is no such thing as "respectful" debate in the presence of bigots.
It's a shame that you anti-porn zealots have to attack ones character, or make subtle condescending snotty pompous insults to provoke users, then cry and provoke more after someone returns the favor, fuckin puritanical bigots.
Yes, there are a few pieces of ideologically biased "femsearch" from antiporn feminists to show the so-called harmful effects of porn, but there are a few pieces of research to not find any evidence of these harmful effects from consumption.
Research has to be looked at carefully, and must be criticized. Research presented in the context of YT comments is a one-sided uncritical presentation use to sway beliefs, not discover truth.
Oh dear, the antis have discovered this video and now have their undies in a bunch. Instead of focusing solely on the satisfaction you personally receive by consuming porn, why don't you try thinking about how many desperate young women are forced into that industry because they don't have any other skills the capitalist labor market values? Or how about the psychological effects these women face after having to turn themselves into commodities for sexual gratification?

@TheCeltiberian What of the external effects porn has on women in general, who find it hard to maintain a relationship because of the unrealistic standards porn places on women? Stop being a narrow-minded consumer douche and think a little more seriously about the subject before commenting.
Do you really think that Violet Blue is unacquainted with anti-porn arguments and research claims? Many of us on the pro-porn side are, but find such claims lacking in real evidence. Nor do we find the idea of moral censure or censorship of porn on because women are supposedly oppressed by "standards" men get from pornography to be a pretty unconvincing argument on several levels.
So quit with the condescension. We have thought of this seriously and don't agree with y'all.
@iamcuriousblue Simply stating that the arguments are "unconvincing" isn't saying anything at all. Exactly how are they unconvincing? That is the question. How did you come to the conclusion that porn is a harmless little business which suffers from no negative externalities?
What Violent Blue, and the other so-called 'sex positive' feminists are doing is a basic cost-benefit analysis and choosing to value their own personal self-gratification over ethics and justice—a very bourgeois approach..
@TheCeltiberian It's one thing to get your jollies via videotaping yourself having sex and making it available to the public for free, but saying that you're perfectly okay with the porn INDUSTRY is something else entirely.
Oh, I see. Free speech stops as soon as something is an "industry". Well, I guess we can dispense with free speech for the newspaper INDUSTRY or film INDUSTRY. Hey, why not allow the banning of "Capitalism: A Love Story"? It is, after all, property of Paramount, a private corporation.
Oh, I see. The burden of proof is to demonstrate that porn is harmless? I don't think so.
Actually, when you're talking about forms of *expression* in societies that protect free expression, then the burden is damn well on *you* to prove that sexually explicit expression is somehow harmful in ways that other protected speech isn't before even considering any kind of ban or even special control. So far, porn effects studies haven't even remotely risen to that level of proof.
Vague crap like "it makes women feel bad about their bodies" or "models the 'wrong' kind of sexuality" hardly rises to the level that demands regulation or even censure.
And BTW, nice try with the "bourgeois" and "so-called sex positive". Here's a small clue: I'm not a Marxist or radical feminist, and neither are most other people. Why the hell should we care about what's right and wrong according to your ideology?
@iamcuriousblue I figured you were a capitalist, so 'trivial' issues such as justice and fairness wouldn't apply to someone like yourself. Life is all about what YOU can get to make yourself feel good, damn the consequences. Well, fuck you and your anti-social worldview. If you're not a feminist, I have no interest in discussing matters any further with you.
Well, actually I'm more of a left libertarian/social liberal rather than a "capitalist", but that's probably too fine a distinction for you.
And no love for your "one big feminism", which actually throws a lot of women under a bus for having sex or doing sex work in "unsisterly ways". And "lumpen swine"? Wow, ideologue much?
@iamcuriousblue "Left libertarian" can range from a mutualist (anarchist/market socialist) to a 'socially liberal' capitalist, I suspect you are the latter.
Feminists don't throw sex workers "under the bus," they simply seek to eliminate the social conditions that give rise to women being forced into such careers—at least many (non-'sex positive') socialist feminists do. Many of us also find sex "careers" to be among the most vile manifestations of wage slavery.
Just because you don't think anybody who isn't part of the far left doesn't have any valid opinion (unless their anti-porn conservatives like Pamela Paul) really doesn't concern me.
Now as for sex workers, as a matter of fact, your movement does throw women who say that they *willingly* do sex work under the bus. Please have a look at recent videos by Divinity33372 for examples where actual sex workers complain about this.
I personally have no interest in conversation with somebody living on planet Marx. I think social justice for the earth should can be achieved by those of us actually living on Earth.
@TheCeltiberian Feminists are supposed to fight on behalf of justice and rights for the entire female gender, which is why I'm addressing specifically those feminists who support pornography.
Smut peddlers, like yourself, are only interested in reaping surplus value through the exploitation of women. I have nothing but the deepest contempt for you and the horde of bourgeois and lumpenproletariat swine that partake in such a "business venture."
@iamcuriousblue That "vague crap" is based on hundreds of sociological studies that have been conducted. Perhaps you should consult the literature on the subject. If you can't handle anything too academic, try out Pamela Paul's 'Pornified' or Chyng Sun's documentary 'The Price of Pleasure.'
Could you stop being so *fucking* condescending? Do you think I'm not familiar with the academic literature. In particular, Neal Malamuth's work and his meta-analysis of previous studies. He found no evidence that pornography produced hightened sexual aggression in normal men. If you look at porn effects studies in general, and not just cherry-picked studies, there actually isn't a whole lot of evidence that porn causes aggression at all.
And, two, wow, most oft repeated condescending statement to pro-porn people. "Have you ever seen 'The Price of Pleasure'?" Well, yes, as a matter of fact I have. In fact, I used to co-blog with Ernest Greene who was *in* TPoP. I think its one-sided propaganda that actually misrepresents a number of people who are in it and pornography in general. Have you ever read any critiques of that film?
And as for Pornified, its a highly impressionistic work by a died-in-the-wool social conservative. (Funny how religious rightists, neocons, Marxists, and radical feminists seem to agree about porn. Says more about them than it does about porn.)

Dear techyum,
Your thought processes are abnormal. Your video makes the offensive suggestion that people who do not enjoy watching violence against and degradation of women are 'douches.' Furthermore, your 'Ghandi the serial killer' analogy was truly deranged.
In the most comprehensive content analysis of best-selling pornography, Robert Wosnitzer et al. (2006) found that 90% of all scenes in best-selling pornography depict violence against women (slapping, gagging, choking, punching etc.).
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Moreover, almost 50% of all scenes in best-selling pornography depict 'ass-to-mouth,' where the male performer anally penetrates a woman and then sticks his penis into her mouth, often joking about her having to eat shit. In this pornography the code of debasement is most stark. There is no apparent increase in male sexual pleasure by moving directly from the anus to the mouth outside of the humiliation that the woman must endure.

In anticipation of your 'argument' that the research I have posted was conducted by evil evil evil SUPER-evil feminists, I would like you to know that the research was conducted by people like Neil Malamuth from UCLA and Robert Wosnitzer from NYU.
If you would like to make the argument that your ignorant opinion is of more validity than decades of research, please prepare yourself to be laughed at.
Do not project your Stockholm syndrome on other women, techyum.
Hi, there. I'm a Christian, (or douchbag, your choice) I'm a femenist, I'm a Marxist and I'm ANTIPORN. I think this video is full of blatant ignorance towards what porn and anti.porn realy are. You focus totally in the consumption of porn and nothing in the production, if you did you could find that pain and exploitation are intrinsic to porn industry (and any industry), for men and women alike. But, anyway it's you're choice to remain in a mistake.
@iamcuriousblue Name calling is no argument. Saying they're "Mutually exclusive" and "authoritatian" it just shows you're probably not very acquainted with these. And you're reference to Islam, I think it's real cheap, now you will call me a nazi (or that moronic oxymoron Feminazi).

Who gives a fuck if some women like porn? Does that make it okay? I didn't realize that women were immune from doing things that harm women.
I had no idea that women were immune from having their sexism called into question because they are women!
I'm gonna stop calling Anne Coulter a misogynist now, because she's a woman, she couldn't possibly do anything that would propagate sexism. Women are saints and their use of other women shall not be questioned!

Anti porn Feminists are gender supremacists. They think erotica is inherently good because it is the preferred sexual stimulation of women while pornography is inherently bad because it is the preferred sexual stimulation of heterosexual men.
These people are misandric fascists, and should be shot in the fucking face.

May I introduce to y'all: Markohoppis.
Markohoppis is the nutjob that makes fun of rape victims, demands that all Swedish men be killed for not putting their women in their place, and wants people to shoot other people in the face for disagreeing with him.
You have not guessed what Markohoppis is? Yes, a Misogynists' Rights Activist, one of those depraved creepy men who argue that white men are systematically oppressed.
This is full of adhoms, needling, strawmanning, excluded middle, burden of proof, emotive language, slippery slope, selective observation and many more. In other words, this argument is SHITE. Try again.
Iam, why is it that your sock puppet is wishing you to suffer weeping scrotal boils? Please see a psychiatrist, Iam. For your schizophrenia and paraphilia.
Awesome!!! I so doubt NN & crew will even respond to this. They will have to pretend they didn't see it because it debunks their whole presence on YT!
Hilarious. You've been fair here, their position is permanently untenable.
All of these contributors are very easy on the eyes, but easier on the brains. It's a good message: time to decriminalize these aspects of humanity completely.
oh also, thanks for posting this. I agree with you, feminism and pornography are compatible. it's just that both sides of the argument are populated with self-righteous ideophobes.
hmmm. Something here undermines your whole argument. It's called the Straw Man fallacy. While anti-porn "activists" are ridiculous, there is a way to address their outrageous hyperbole without using outrageous hyperbole yourself. For instance, that whole "turning Ghandi into a serial killer" thing. No one ever said that. Address their real concern, i.e. "Pornography leads to spousal abuse" or whatever it is. Facts will back you up -- and facts are the most useful tool when stating your case.
@dannyboy860 that's funny, cause i could care less who you are. i can barely be bothered to type this sentence.

Why the hell should we care about what's right and wrong according to your ideology?
iamcuriousblue 1 year ago
@iamcuriousblue I figured you were a capitalist, so 'trivial' issues such as justice and fairness wouldn't apply to someone like yourself. Life is all about what YOU can get to make yourself feel good, damn the consequences. Well, fuck you and your anti-social worldview. If you're not a feminist, I have no interest in discussing matters any further with you.

@TheCeltiberian
(cont)
iamcuriousblue 1 year ago
@iamcuriousblue "Left libertarian" can range from a mutualist (anarchist/market socialist) to a 'socially liberal' capitalist, I suspect you are the latter.
Feminists don't throw sex workers "under the bus," they simply seek to eliminate the social conditions that give rise to women being forced into such careers—at least many (non-'sex positive') socialist feminists do. Many of us also find sex "careers" to be among the most vile manifestations of wage slavery.
TheCeltiberian 1 year ago
@TheCeltiberian

I think social justice for the earth should can be achieved by those of us actually living on Earth.
iamcuriousblue 1 year ago
@TheCeltiberian Feminists are supposed to fight on behalf of justice and rights for the entire female gender, which is why I'm addressing specifically those feminists who support pornography.
Smut peddlers, like yourself, are only interested in reaping surplus value through the exploitation of women. I have nothing but the deepest contempt for you and the horde of bourgeois and lumpenproletariat swine that partake in such a "business venture."
TheCeltiberian 1 year ago
@iamcuriousblue That "vague crap" is based on hundreds of sociological studies that have been conducted. Perhaps you should consult the literature on the subject. If you can't handle anything too academic, try out Pamela Paul's 'Pornified' or Chyng Sun's documentary 'The Price of Pleasure.'
TheCeltiberian 1 year ago
@TheCeltiberian
Could you stop being so *fucking* condescending? Do you think I'm not familiar with the academic literature. In particular, Neal Malamuth's work and his meta-analysis of previous studies. He found no evidence that pornography produced hightened sexual aggression in normal men. If you look at porn effects studies in general, and not just cherry-picked studies, there actually isn't a whole lot of evidence that porn causes aggression at all.
iamcuriousblue 1 year ago
@TheCeltiberian
Have you ever read any critiques of that film?
iamcuriousblue 1 year ago
@TheCeltiberian

There.

Violent and degrading pornography has been shown to:
- increase the incidence of rape myths
- increase the acceptance of rape myths
- decrease sensitivity to the suffering of rape victims
- increase sexual callousness
(Allen et al., 2006; Vega & Malamuth 2007; Kingston et al.; 2007; Perrin et al,, 2008; Carroll et al., 2008; Bonino et al., 2006; Carr & VanDEusen, 2004; George, Dermen & Nachajski, 1989; Norris, 1989; Norris & Kerr, 1993 etc. etc.)

Good day.

Women are saints and their use of other women shall not be questioned!

exactly. but of course, if a woman does it, it's not bad...it doesn't hurt any other women, in fact it's fucking empowering somehow.

Yes, a Misogynists' Rights Activist, one of those depraved creepy men who argue that white men are systematically oppressed.

mesaoneCCK 1 year ago
