  • I can never forget those days... Hi speed internet connection 56 kbps as my provider sold it but truly 48 kbps on good days... MSN explorer loading... Windows 98 64 GB pc 128 mb RAM and don't even talk about the processor... Good old days, I won't miss... I believe back then to load this video would have taken me about 10 min or so!

  • msn?

  • eww that's what dial up sounds like, it sounds like a donkey farting

  • I remember this from when I was like 5... Look how far we got in like 10 years!

  • The good o'...-.- who am I kidding.

  • i remember when i use to tether my Nokia 2720 by blue tooth on t mobile. it was better than dial up and i was able to play games well at 500ping but the battery always drained quickly. so i had to keep the phone plugged in. i killed my prepaid service later on because i got tired of the prices they had for minutes.

  • Hahahha, it is so funny when you look at it now... :D

  • some ATM machines still conect like this

  • In NYC... where you can get 100Mbps down for cheaper than I get 7Mbps here

  • @ehhhhhhhhhh I get 5 down here in NYC...

  • @Ambassad0rPineapple Sorry, I had been looking at Optimum's 100Mbps plan but I don't think it's available anywhere. They offer a 50Mbps plan in NYC, though.

  • I remember using MSN Explorer but on the base speed of Broadband. Only time I had to suffer through Dialup was at my Grandma's.

  • lol the good old days!!!

  • I remember my mom used this way back in 2003

  • This is probably the only thing from my childhood I won't miss

  • man my porn would take forever to load, holy shit

  • Memories... trying to go on the internet in the middle of the night to watch porn and the dialup noise wakes my parents... good times :D

  • that brings back memories from last month

  • stupid thing, it was like dialing a phone number every time u went online.

  • in northern Maine, dial up is still frequently used due to a lack of cable or dsl lines.

  • Click!

    Buzzzzzzzzz.....

  • MEMORIES

I remember my mom picking up the phone was like wtf is this sound?!

    "MAAA!!"

  • @WBTBWBmusic You mean google is taking over the internet with there fiber optic cables.

  • MSN internet lols

  • My god, how spoiled we are now

  • @liamstarwatcher my god, how horrible life was then :P

  • Remember when someone would call, it would kick you off the internet? LOL

  • Is this XP, Vista, or 7?

  • @NewDie9 XP

  • Fuck it that handshake complete sound was sweet as!

  • @BoyneMaiden Really?

  • Dude imagine trying to play xbox live with dial up internet connection.

  • @NewDie9 or waiting for porn vids to load.. imagine trying to skip to the middle and wait for it to load..

  • @NewDie9 HOLEY SHIT THAT WOULD BE SCAREY

  • @NewDie9 don't scare me man... seriously =S

  • @NewDie9 That would be a nightmare

  • Aaah old times this sound makes me cry :D

  • Curse that sound! When I would sneak up after my parents went to bed, that goddamn modem would blow my cover.

  • @whatismyname5151 pc's do ushally do offer settings that would turn off the modem, i just leave mine on, but i turn it off if i don't wan't to annoy anyone.

  • @watcher206 Well, I did find that setting when XP launched...but back when it was a problem was Win98 days, and I was 10-11 and...well....10-11 year olds arent really that smart. My strategy was to get all my pillows and push them against the PC during the connecting process to try to muffle it. Back then the keyboard were super loud too though. haha I remember having to push each key slowly to try to mask that too

  • back then , this sound was the internet.

now , it's called dubstep. hahahah

  • @sarahrebekuuh You're listening to the wrong dubstep.

  • @Mgopro i mean some dubstep is okay. but the rest of it is just stupid. it's not even music.

  • @sarahrebekuuh Yeah I have to agree. There's a lot of "just noise" dubstep. Absolutely no musicality.

  • @Mgopro exactly. the very few dubstep songs i like i still don't count as music. i mean it's all the same beat , just with different dial-up sounding noises &a different pace aha.

  • @sarahrebekuuh Beat has very little to do with the music. Haven't you ever noticed that 99999999 songs use the Amen break, while most others use 2 step?

  • @Mgopro the beat is an important part to me. it's about half of what makes a song original to me. i mean don't get me wrong i love music. i'm not going to be hypocritical , a lot of music has the same beat. but with dubstep it's just not music. it's just different ways of putting the same noises together.

  • @sarahrebekuuh So is playing the piano, or violin, or any instrument. It's basically different ways of putting the same noise(s) together. Your argument lacks validity.

  • @Mgopro i was trying to argue with you. i understand what you're saying thought. i don't really know how to explain it. where music is different instruments of different sounds make up a song. where dubstep isn't even from a real instrument. i mean you run out of ways to put the same buzzing noises together eventually &all of it starts to sound the same. you get me ?

  • *wasn't trying to argue with you.

  • Brings back memories for sure. Reminds me of the time I "illegally" went on the internet at my aunt and uncle's. Woke the whole house up with the sound of dial up.

    Good times. :)

  • Arrrgghh dial up was annoying! I hardly used it 'cause every time someone picked up the phone it would cut out >.>

  • I remember it took me all day to download one 3 mb song, from napster ;)

  • It was a scary noise.

  • wow your dad is poor

  • @bindoggus Just because he uses Dial-Up doesn't automatically mean he is flat broke.

  • @larewwedxhhh19 yes it does

  • @bindoggus LOL, well, okay then. Have fun in your world.

  • @larewwedxhhh19 Thank you for respecting my opinion.

  • @larewwedxhhh19 As a matter of fact: I'm quite sure dial-up is way more expensive then a internet subscription these days. Maybe he just doesn't give a **** about teh internetz.

    /oldpeople lol

  • My bro wouldn't let me on the computer as he surfed a lot...

... Everytime, I suddenly had the urge to call someone. :3

  • OH MY GOSH! I remember when I had internet with dial-up, plus there was a 10 hour limited internet access. Ugh! I hated it, because at that time when your phone rings, you couldn't use the internet or when you're on the internet, you couldn't use the phone.

Today, we all can use the phone and the internet at the same time and the best of all...UNLIMITED INTERNET ACCESS :D

  • remember when you were young

    you shone like the sun

  • I remember this, my mum would always be yelling at my sister "GET OFF THE INTERNET I NEED TO USE THE PHONE!!" lol

  • @HeathH737 hahah lol so true, id be like just one more minute mom!!! No get off now i need to make an important call...Cmon mom lol

  • I remember this, my mum would always be yelling at my sister "GET OFF THE INTERNET I NEED TO USE THE PHONE!!" lol

  • OH MY GOD. I remember that. And I'm just 15 years old currently. So I was introduced to internet quite early I guess?

  • people still use this O.o

  • How long did it take you to upload this video?

  • Thumbs up if you used to listen to phone conversations by trying to connect to Dialup

  • Broadband killed the plain text internet. The happy connection sound from the mid-90s internet is something absurdly alluring. I still have a couple of cards around. I don't know if they will ever be used again - unless I decide to set up an old computer as a hobby machine.

  • Oh wow the memories

  • im the only one that disconnected the speaker on the dail up ? :D

  • my only question is wtf browser are you using there?

  • @swgeek63092 EM ESS EN

  • I remember when I got on Youtube on Dial-up and it said to get a faster connection xD

  • I miss this and BBS's ;-;

  • lol does that shit even exist anymore?

  • Why do I miss this

  • Ahhh Nostalgia attack.

  • I had to deal with Dial-Up until 2009

    No joke, seriously

We couldn't get the stuff available in our area to do ethernet for years

  • @tripdefect87 whats it like trying to find cassetts then for your walkman? Can imagine its tricky for you....

  • @jamesthq You speak nothing but truth sir, kudos

  • I had dial up until 2009 don't dis

  • *Downloads NetZero Free*

*Tries to connect dial-up cable to modem*

God dammit I forgot my new laptop doesn't have a modem! D:

  • i love dial up : D

  • I remember when I was little, I used dial-up so that I can play on the computer. It took five minutes to get a download though. I can remember it as far back as when I was six.

  • downloads 400 mb file at 1 kbps download length! 2 years

  • Yeah...oh what fun. And I sometimes sit and stare at progress bars for half an hour...just to reminisce. Tsk!

  • I have nightmares of this and furbies weekly

  • Comment removed

  • i have a phone alarmclock thar sounds like that lol

  • I bet it doesn't have any data caps.

  • 56k or 28k?

  • childhood.exe started

  • Oh yeah, I remember. Now most computers don't even have a dial up input... Things have sure changed.

  • MOM!!! Get off the phone, I am trying to use the Internet... :(

  • @christhecoolboy LMAO!!! SO true.

  • @christhecoolboy Or... MOM!!! Get off the internet, I'm trying to the use phone :(

  • no ..adsl in nyc?

  • I hate dial-up

  • Oh wow, I used to use MSN internet. XD;;

  • OMG memories T_T

  • ahhhh the days

  • Was it just me, or did Dial-up have to re-dial a few times before actually connecting?

  • Oh yeah, this brings back memories.

  • So nostalgic..

  • @b33292 I was great for its time and now its great to look back and mess around with lol

  • I remember when I was like 7 and Dial up was sooo fast!

And then I got high speed and I was all like :O And thats wen my internet addiction started

  • @pangolin97 lol haha yeah....

  • Until you got a phone call.... =(

  • i miss these sounds.

  • OMG! I hope no one picks up the phone.

  • I always wondered what it would be like to live back in the 1900's? So the Internet was called dial up? Like one of those phones from TV that have a dial on them?

  • @BennyB5555 yea in the early 90's the later 90's didnt have those rotatry dial ups.

  • @BennyB5555 not really. you had computers with built in dial up modems. the modem detects the connection be the dial tone an as its dialing out thats the sound that you would hear on the internal or external most internal were a bit quiter then the old externals but when i was a kid using dial up it was fast to me an then at school using high speed changed everything but of course living in the country ive had to stick with dial up for most my life till 3 years ago we got verizon broadband

  • you're slow web experience might be enhanced by using a better browser at least.

one that renders before page loading is complete maybe.

  • haha the "good morning" sounds like a black woman from verizon new york building ! ww LOL i grab that from the movie united 93 ! XD

  • i loved the old internet in a sort of way...

  • @bundlestacks ouch!

  • @bundlestacks

A lot of people still had too. In fact... some people STILL use dial-up.

  • @Testement117 millions of people do. like me. u make it sound like its uncommon.

  • @Testement117 to go back to dial up would be like going back into the dark ages, down memory lane....awww

  • dial up...had it between 04 -09. God knows how many died of stress and rage in the 1990s due to this. thank goodness for DOCSIS

  • @SuperMe4lyfe 2009!?

  • @halfawake454 Yeah. It's unbelieveable isn't it

  • This reminds of how fun the internet used to be. Just the mere act of being able to get online was a treat in itself.

  • @DrivingonSepulveda so well said! my feelings totally!

  • @DrivingonSepulveda yes, it was! I never realized just how fun it was until you posted this! Thank you! It always felt like an accomplishment, didn't it? Especially when you had to try like a half dozen times! LOL!!!

  • @DrivingonSepulveda A treat or a trial? Remember when service providers were sometimes full?

  • @soviut

Lol. A little bit of both. The worst was Net Zero. It let me for five seconds at a time every ten tries.

  • @DrivingonSepulveda I totally agree, it's far too easy now that we take it for granted.

  • @DrivingonSepulveda and back in the day i remember looking everywhere for website addresses to try out. here we are 15 years later and now were flooded with webpages. Life before google was interesting to say the least. Dogpile, yahoo, alta vista, askjeeves, etc. And all the cyber paranoia :v

  • @DrivingonSepulveda ah yes. i sometimes logged in and out many a time to hear that sound :D

  • That was my routine when i was little =D

    *Starts MSN explorer*

    *dail-up does its thing*

    *goes online*

get dsl or cable its not that expensive

  • I had to use dial-up all the way up until 2005. Fucking brutal

  • @cuppajoesugar I miss dial-up. Back then, the internet was new and exciting.

  • @cuppajoesugar I know exactly what you're talking about. Dial-up for me was a pain. I remember having dial-up until early 2005 and I couldn't stand it at all. Every time the phone ranged, you're cut offline from the internet.

  • with data cap, our broadband speed is as crap as dial up

  • I remember how annoying it was not being able to talk on the phone and use the internet at the same time.

  • I remember the Dial-up noise.

  • Every one remember pop up spam?

  • @drunkenn1nja Sure. It's called Windows XP.

  • @PaulGrantDesigns That is not true because i still us WIndows XP! I see reason to dish out $150 when I don't have to.

  • @drunkenn1nja a recent memory.

  • @drunkenn1nja Yeah, now there's google adwords or some kind of sex facebook ad.

  • Even with today's "fast" computers, does the Internet still seem a little "sluggish" ?

Sorry about all the "quotation marks".....I was trying to "emphasize" the mood...

    Anyone? Bueller?

  • what does this remind me?? hmm? what? what? what?

    oh i got it! porn!!!

  • i used dial up till 2009 from 2000 LOL!Fianlly i can watch porn :D

  • @TheProGamerzzzz get laid ? problem solved

  • That sound made it very hard to look at porn and masturbate when everyone in the house was asleep.
