I can never forget those days... Hi speed internet connection 56 kbps as my provider sold it but truly 48 kbps on good days... MSN explorer loading... Windows 98 64 GB pc 128 mb RAM and don't even talk about the processor... Good old days, I won't miss... I believe back then to load this video would have taken me about 10 min or so!
i remember when i use to tether my Nokia 2720 by blue tooth on t mobile. it was better than dial up and i was able to play games well at 500ping but the battery always drained quickly. so i had to keep the phone plugged in. i killed my prepaid service later on because i got tired of the prices they had for minutes.
@Ambassad0rPineapple Sorry, I had been looking at Optimum's 100Mbps plan but I don't think it's available anywhere. They offer a 50Mbps plan in NYC, though.
@whatismyname5151 pc's do ushally do offer settings that would turn off the modem, i just leave mine on, but i turn it off if i don't wan't to annoy anyone.
@watcher206 Well, I did find that setting when XP launched...but back when it was a problem was Win98 days, and I was 10-11 and...well....10-11 year olds arent really that smart. My strategy was to get all my pillows and push them against the PC during the connecting process to try to muffle it. Back then the keyboard were super loud too though. haha I remember having to push each key slowly to try to mask that too
@Mgopro exactly. the very few dubstep songs i like i still don't count as music. i mean it's all the same beat , just with different dial-up sounding noises &a different pace aha.
@sarahrebekuuh Beat has very little to do with the music. Haven't you ever noticed that 99999999 songs use the Amen break, while most others use 2 step?
@Mgopro the beat is an important part to me. it's about half of what makes a song original to me. i mean don't get me wrong i love music. i'm not going to be hypocritical , a lot of music has the same beat. but with dubstep it's just not music. it's just different ways of putting the same noises together.
@sarahrebekuuh So is playing the piano, or violin, or any instrument. It's basically different ways of putting the same noise(s) together. Your argument lacks validity.
@Mgopro i was trying to argue with you. i understand what you're saying thought. i don't really know how to explain it. where music is different instruments of different sounds make up a song. where dubstep isn't even from a real instrument. i mean you run out of ways to put the same buzzing noises together eventually &all of it starts to sound the same. you get me ?
Brings back memories for sure. Reminds me of the time I "illegally" went on the internet at my aunt and uncle's. Woke the whole house up with the sound of dial up.
@larewwedxhhh19 As a matter of fact: I'm quite sure dial-up is way more expensive then a internet subscription these days. Maybe he just doesn't give a **** about teh internetz.
OH MY GOSH! I remember when I had internet with dial-up, plus there was a 10 hour limited internet access. Ugh! I hated it, because at that time when your phone rings, you couldn't use the internet or when you're on the internet, you couldn't use the phone.
Today, we all can use the phone and the internet at the same time and the best of all...UNLIMITED INTERNET ACCESS :D
Broadband killed the plain text internet. The happy connection sound from the mid-90s internet is something absurdly alluring. I still have a couple of cards around. I don't know if they will ever be used again - unless I decide to set up an old computer as a hobby machine.
I remember when I was little, I used dial-up so that I can play on the computer. It took five minutes to get a download though. I can remember it as far back as when I was six.
I always wondered what it would be like to live back in the 1900's? So the Internet was called dial up? Like one of those phones from TV that have a dial on them?
