Lots of funny comments! Yes, the stock latch was removed, hood pins put in. You don't need hood pins on your street car. The hood is not carbon fiber. Rules say we need to keep the stock hood. Yup, it scared the crap out of me! Yup, I am the same dude that hit the wall at Pocono. Just finished up season winning the North Atlantic Road Racing Championship. I've won about 7 races since the "hood" incident. Thanks turtle, I'll take your advice into consideration. What do you race?
I think a lot people are confused and aren't sure if your trying to make a point that you have an after market hood with hood pins installed, but forgot to put the clips in, or its an after market hood using the factory latch and doesn't have hood pins installed.

Did you install a carbon fiber hood? In this vid, the driver is racing, so I'm assuming that the car has a carbon fiber hood which is not the stock hood.
@kzarakitechvids You misunderstood the video. He has hood pins on the car in the video, but he forgot to clip them down. Generally when u installed hood pins on a car you remove the factory hood release mechanisms, leaving the hood pins the only thing keeping the hood from flying up, and he forgot to clip them on
This situation could be avoided by using the new Quik Latch next generation hood pins. They automatically latch shut without needing to put the restrain pins in. Check out the Quik Latch video also on You Tube!
Exact same thing happend to me while driving at about 80KMH with a steel hood on my Skyline ... luckily the weight of the hood slowed it down so it happend all in slow motion and my windshield didn't have one crack!

@noirjour Carbon fiber is expensive, it's more common to gut the hood, and cut out all the metal on the inside leaving the outside layer only.
