Ya, this is not a fighting move. It doesn't say it is in the title. He's just doing the basic maveuver with which you can knock someone out. The sleeper hold is a fighting move that can and will knock someone out if applied properly though. It's the same thing as this.
so you basically just block both carotid arteries....pretty sure you can never pull this off in a fight, the guy would be moving like crazy trying to resist.
@gargamel6699 Um, Kyusho isn't a martial art. It's part of a martial art that teaches the weakest points of a body. It's more of a principle than art. Like you said, it's the same as a rear naked coke, but without THIS there would be no rear naked because people wouldn't understand that blocking the carotid's. Real Kyusho is used in even the most basic of jujutsu techniques. People that treat this as an art as it's own stand alone fighting art, are bullshiting you. It's taught as a principle.

@raquelnatanael they hit them in betweenthe shoulder blades it somehow shocks the body in to action again and they wake up dont no how it works it just does
The prevention of the DEOXYGENATED blood from leaving the brain
The restriciton of breathing causeing a FURTHER rapid rise in blood pressure
all go to contribute to the knock out effect or a strangle, or blood choke as some call it. An operation to clean the carotid artery can be performed and is done with the patient fully concious. If carotid compression was the only factor in a strangle this wouldnt be possible :)
2. The Valsalva effect - If breathing can be restricted at the same time as the strangle is applied by say using the elbow to press on the sternum solar plexus area in the case of a rear naked choke, or by pulling the head down in the case of a Triangle choke using the legs then this will cause the blood pressure to rise further, this is due to the blood attempting to make up the O2 deficiet by transporting blood as fast as possible (even though the blood will not be oxygenated fully
Just a quick bit of info :) although Carotid compression is a part of strangulation techniques it is no the major part. Studies by medical experts conducted on behalf of the KodoKan discovered that the effect of strangles such as a rear naked is due to several factors:
1. Venal constriction - ie the restriction of the blood supply FROM the brain causeing the blood pressure to rise activating the bodies automatic shut down to protect the body.
First of all, i belive that points in our body exist who can knock someone out!
But, a real big BUT, what this guy is showing here ,is that he is making pressure on two artery's (A. Carotis) and if ya put pressure on these, you're gonna restrict your blood flow of your brain! And if that happens, will your brain shutt your body down! To ensure your blood flow.
And that is exactly what here in the vid is happening.
@TheSteirischeEiche most of the time when you see a knock out it is because like you said the blood flow to the brain is low for example head lock or choke. another way is by minor or major concussion when the brain is hit with such a force it bounces against the skull. for example taking a full on punch from bruce lee, mike tyson, or muhammed ali
that was a straight up carotid artery choke. I'm more impressed that the uke could sit there and take it until he went unconscious without instinctively pulling away.
@bobjoemagee Not exactly. He is maintaining pressure on 2 specific points of the body which causes the guy to pass out. you could cut the circulation yes, but when you start playing with pressure points, you affect the nervous system.
looks more like he was pressing over the carotid arteries than hitting nerves or pressure points, but i've seen stuff like this done and they claim it isnt carotid related at all
ouch it hurts so much, once I got punched lightly on LI18 both sides, had the feeling my head explodes and my neck got streched three times, awesome feeling.
mmmmm i counted 1,2,3,4,5,6 sec that means that it is the same time a rear naked choke takes and furthermore if ur fighting u never really get an oppurtunity to hit that precise
though some nerve system tricks are fun but most of the time not in street fight
The nerves that run through that area (LI-18) that can be affected are: the great auricular nerve, cutaneous cervical nerve, lesser occipital nerve and accessory nerve.
I'm not sure why everyone is assuming it's a blood-related technique. Instead it's a nerve technique, which results in a much faster & more efficient result.
Leeroy is simply pushing to be nice cause he's a great guy. For self-defense, you'd just hit it. Same result nearly instantly.
im pretty sure u can achieve the result threw a rear naked choke if its applied the proper way n im pretty sure that is easyer to achieve then trying to pinch arteries
It's not arteries that he's going for, rather he's going for nerves. He mentions that you can strike or press to activate the nerves. You're right that it may be easier to do a rear naked choke if you're in that position, but again you can strike to have the same result. 3-4 second choke vs a .5-1 second strike. I'd prefer the strike personally.
Yup. It was a blood choke. That's why it took so long for him to pass out. His thumbs where in perfect alingment for the arteries in the neck to cut of the supply of blood oxygen to the brain.
The Jugular vein and Carotoid arteries are closer to the front of the neck. Where Leeroy is preesing is directly in the middle of the neck. This is not a blood choke. It gets tireing listening to people who don't have a clue commenting on high level stuff like this. Open your eyes and ears and learn something instead of trying to bash what you don't understand.

ok... nothing special. Me n my pals used to do this in school like 7 years ago, for fun. No one is just gonna wait until you manage to make him pass out. Just choke him.......
Meridians don't exist! (Ive watched real human Dissection and I can tell you meridians were conspicuous by there absence, so stay with real anatomy not this Chi BS) so think about what he is pressing!
he's pressing on the carotid glomus which registers the composition of the blood running through the artery to the brain. During a disturbance here the body shuts down to protect itself from further damage whilst it deals with finding and repairing the disfunction. No meridians! I have looked inside corpses and have seen no meridians. I think science will explain all things given enough time.
Well...considering it's a system composed from anatomical science I would say your right. Even if you can disprove meridians, you can't deny that kyusho knock-outs work. Take your own advice and look deeper into the strikes.
Don't deny they work at all. I just don't think they are the thing they are described as. If the system is based on anatomy it might cause less confusion if the points were named after the appropriate structure like carotid glomus for example. This would be less confusing! I have looked deeper, but it would save time and effort if standard anatomical terms were used on the basis of empirical science. This doesn't make the strikes any less cool or effective!
I agree! Stop trying to cloud it in mystery, and show it for what it is! Scientific martial arts! :-) Using the anatomy to disrupt the opponent is the goal anyways, correct? So, why not do away with the mystic stories and names, and just give it base in real science. It would help to promote the system a LOT and probabllt help to distill the disbelief that so many have. I've had pressure points done to me, all they did was sting for a few seconds and I was fine.
they use those names because they already exist and everyone who studies these arts and certain other arts knows them by these names. same reason scientific names are in latin, these are something like chinese converted to english or left in chinese. its no supposed to be mystical, i feel sorry for you if it was. and as for the stories, sometimes they are easier to remember that way, or bear principles that apply to multiple things.
SEE, THE THING IS, WHEN YOU HAVE LOSS OF BLOOD TO THE BRIAN, THAT IS WHEN U GO TO SLEEP, SIMPLY PUT, U CAN HIT THE "ko'D" PERSON ALL U WANT, BUT THEY WONT COME TO UNLESS THAT BLOOD RETURNS, JACK ASS :)
why don't people believe this. lol! when your body sustains enough pain, your brain shuts down temporarily to alleviate you from having to feel that much pain.
Sorry Yuki, But looks like a crush dummies. At first I though you was a mannequin, jajaja. Plese don´t take like an offense, It was just a first impression.
OK NINJA SECRET HERE: The counter to this move is moving your head slightly forward. We ninjas have been using this method for thousands of years and the evil samuraia have never beaten us.
....ninpo hasn't existed for thousands of years. Samurai haven't existed for thousands of years.
And ninja were orignally cast out or rogue samurai who hid out to survive. Becoming assassins over time, as being without loyalty or ties allowed other feudal lords to use them without tainting their own hands.
hahaha, that has nothing to do with qi or whatever, why are people even discussing that?He presses on the two main ardri's, that tends to stop the bloodflow.(bloodchoke)
It does work very effectively do,but there are way beter ways to do it.
Yes, there are points on the forehead and eyebrows which are closely related. They can give people a sense of euphoria and they can cause a flash of light as well. Add the two together and Hallelulah!
Unless, and this is critical, you are already a trained master level blackbelt, or have a Sensei/Teacher who is and is trained in pressure points, you should NEVER just play around with points. You shouldn't period. If you have a Sensei/teacher and want to see what it feels like, then talk to them about it. Have them do enough to make you dizzy. If they can do that, then all it takes is a bit more pressure to put you out. Don't go experimenting with friends when you don't know what your doing.
Granted this particular move as shown above isn't the MOST dangerous, but anytime you force someone into unconciousness by messing with their nervous system you ARE damaging it to an extent. And I can tell you DON"T know how to deal with it if something did go bad.
if you don't press to hard it only hurts of course there is still the chance you'll put him out but for the most part if you havnt practiced these you won't be very dangerous to anyone with pressure points
this one is true, when you block those arteries the brain gets short in oxigen and shuts down aka, not like lots of videos on youtube showing fake pressure points like hitting a finger and going ko :P
i know, but i was just saying that many fake profesors do silly things, like the one that was supposed to "mentally" knock out people but when he tried on the girl doing the tv show and some martial artists from other schools mysteriously it didnt worked, those ppl i meant ^^U
while the neck is easiest u can ock someone out with a strike to the hand any trauma to a bundle of nerves (pressurepoint) will flood the body with potassium and put u to sleep i learned this cool move where i stike my arm pit region light;y and it puts me to sleep natural sleepin pill
like i said; it floods the body with potassium, it's not actually the arm pi though if you hold your arm out to yourside palm down go about 2 or 3 inches away from the armpit and its about halfway down the underside of the armpit, it hurts alot so i don't reccomend trying it on your self and if you hit it hard enough your whole body locks up and u fall over
What is the point of that? Who would ever let you stand behind them and do this to them? No one. Bullshit systems like this are just so lame, for women and people who have never been in a real fight, and scared of getting hit.
If you paid attention, the instructor makes the statement that you can EITHER apply pressure, i.e. headlock style, or you can strike them, which is what you would do in a real fight. What he is doing here is showing the location and overall effect, without using a full force blow. It's about the "safest" way to demonstrate the points. Please note that NO knockout by pressure point is completely safe, and DOES have adverse effects on the nervous system over time.
jdtwk123..well thank for that insightful reply. I will remember the bit about "adverse effects on the nervous system over time" the next time someone is pounding my head in to a concrete pavement, and think "Gee, i'm sure glad he isn't hitting any pressure points that may cause me adverse effects over time"
Oh for christ sakes, are you slow, or just illiterate? Did you actually read what I wrote? I was making the point that IN TRAINING you should never use the full effect of pressure points on a student, or partner. Don't be an ass, ok? Learn PP fighting and use it to defend yourself at full force, naturally. But not when training. You don't need to to become good at precise striking and point location. Its a great way to kill your friends or cut 10 years off their lives.
this is just like the rear naked choke. all it does is just stop blood flow to the brain but i bet its a lot easier to escape the 2 thumbs on the neck
oh and nice job letting the guys head hit the concrete, leeroy. guess you didn't realize this wasn't a fake KO like the rest of your sham 'martial art'.
Did no-one understand what he said at the start? THIS IS A DEMO, not the technique that you would actually use, such as striking etc, which he bloody stated at the start!
Hey dentalot you should really drop the gay videos on your page, unless you are trying to tell us something. And, if you want any credibility behind your comments, you really should post some of your own videos instead of the muppet crap you have up there.
Hey Leeroy, good job. I see you have idiots posting on your site too. It's a shame they can't see it for what it is. So you're not with George? I'll be teaching in Barcelona in November hope you can make it.
If you think it's BS, than you must be less than 15 years or just old and stupid... if you ask any doctor if he press on that point he will tell you, that you will stop the flow of blood going to your brain and you will pass out.
Well I'm not going to travel to the Netherlands. Why not stop by a Judo or BJJ school and show us your techniques working in a competitive environment.
dentalot, this is exactly the same choke used in Judo and BJJ! in Judo they use the lapel of the gi to do this. I think this clip is only trying to point out that those are the vulnerable points.

Well he did mention that Li 18 can be struck as well as pressed on, which is infact what you would do in a real situation.

OK NINJA SECRET HERE: The counter to this move is moving your head slightly forward. We ninjas have been using this method for thousands of years and the evil samuraia have never beaten us.
mepitans 3 years ago
....ninpo hasn't existed for thousands of years. Samurai haven't existed for thousands of years.
And ninja were orignally cast out or rogue samurai who hid out to survive. Becoming assassins over time, as being without loyalty or ties allowed other feudal lords to use them without tainting their own hands.
jdtwk123 3 years ago
YEah thats a real practical move, if you ever need to choke outin a quadrapoligic.
adrock666666 3 years ago 2
yeah this appears to be the same as a rear naked choke, it looks like the guy is blocking the corodid artery severing bloodflow.
awkwardpete 3 years ago 2
People thinks there's something mystical going on here. It's clear that this can happen if you cut oxygen to the brain.
todei79 3 years ago
ficking fags! why would u let them do that to u. everybody fucking knows that the juggualr vein is a vital pressure point!
tankshot009 3 years ago
u choked him dumb ass.
BrandonB49 4 years ago
The hit knock out would have been much more dangerous to the uke (although it would have been an interesting aplication of a move out of Bassai).
Ectheliontachio 4 years ago
hahaha, that has nothing to do with qi or whatever, why are people even discussing that?He presses on the two main ardri's, that tends to stop the bloodflow.(bloodchoke)
It does work very effectively do,but there are way beter ways to do it.

in the fisrt place this kind of things should never be shown here in you tube or in any public place.even kids will try this to their friends.
junjunspectrum 4 years ago
does this mean benny hinze hits theyre pressure points in church, when he knocks them out in church ,
mickyzeee 4 years ago
Yes, there are points on the forehead and eyebrows which are closely related. They can give people a sense of euphoria and they can cause a flash of light as well. Add the two together and Hallelulah!

d34thn0t3r0x 4 years ago
Unless, and this is critical, you are already a trained master level blackbelt, or have a Sensei/Teacher who is and is trained in pressure points, you should NEVER just play around with points. You shouldn't period. If you have a Sensei/teacher and want to see what it feels like, then talk to them about it. Have them do enough to make you dizzy. If they can do that, then all it takes is a bit more pressure to put you out. Don't go experimenting with friends when you don't know what your doing.
jdtwk123 4 years ago 3
Granted this particular move as shown above isn't the MOST dangerous, but anytime you force someone into unconciousness by messing with their nervous system you ARE damaging it to an extent. And I can tell you DON"T know how to deal with it if something did go bad.
jdtwk123 4 years ago
Get an ambulance to stand by.
sunnynaire 4 years ago
if you don't press to hard it only hurts of course there is still the chance you'll put him out but for the most part if you havnt practiced these you won't be very dangerous to anyone with pressure points
building7911 4 years ago
Spock did this with one hand... :P
Sefardi123 4 years ago
this one is true, when you block those arteries the brain gets short in oxigen and shuts down aka, not like lots of videos on youtube showing fake pressure points like hitting a finger and going ko :P
AbyoLee 4 years ago
Man, many of those one strike points are real. It sends a shock into the brain and temeratily shuts off.
Xranthoius 4 years ago
i know, but i was just saying that many fake profesors do silly things, like the one that was supposed to "mentally" knock out people but when he tried on the girl doing the tv show and some martial artists from other schools mysteriously it didnt worked, those ppl i meant ^^U
AbyoLee 4 years ago
while the neck is easiest u can ock someone out with a strike to the hand any trauma to a bundle of nerves (pressurepoint) will flood the body with potassium and put u to sleep i learned this cool move where i stike my arm pit region light;y and it puts me to sleep natural sleepin pill
building7911 4 years ago
._. seriously...dont do that, you are shocking ur system, that always brings long term bad news ^^U (if u are doing what i thin u are doing)
AbyoLee 4 years ago
yea i know i dont do it any more but its fun to try once or twice
building7911 4 years ago
you hit your arm pit and it makes you pass out? how does that work?
ruinsta 4 years ago
like i said; it floods the body with potassium, it's not actually the arm pi though if you hold your arm out to yourside palm down go about 2 or 3 inches away from the armpit and its about halfway down the underside of the armpit, it hurts alot so i don't reccomend trying it on your self and if you hit it hard enough your whole body locks up and u fall over
building7911 4 years ago
What is the point of that? Who would ever let you stand behind them and do this to them? No one. Bullshit systems like this are just so lame, for women and people who have never been in a real fight, and scared of getting hit.
bettySwollox 4 years ago
If you paid attention, the instructor makes the statement that you can EITHER apply pressure, i.e. headlock style, or you can strike them, which is what you would do in a real fight. What he is doing here is showing the location and overall effect, without using a full force blow. It's about the "safest" way to demonstrate the points. Please note that NO knockout by pressure point is completely safe, and DOES have adverse effects on the nervous system over time.
jdtwk123 4 years ago
jdtwk123..well thank for that insightful reply. I will remember the bit about "adverse effects on the nervous system over time" the next time someone is pounding my head in to a concrete pavement, and think "Gee, i'm sure glad he isn't hitting any pressure points that may cause me adverse effects over time"
bettySwollox 4 years ago
Oh for christ sakes, are you slow, or just illiterate? Did you actually read what I wrote? I was making the point that IN TRAINING you should never use the full effect of pressure points on a student, or partner. Don't be an ass, ok? Learn PP fighting and use it to defend yourself at full force, naturally. But not when training. You don't need to to become good at precise striking and point location. Its a great way to kill your friends or cut 10 years off their lives.
jdtwk123 4 years ago
great for using it on people who dont move during a dust up... your amazing.
DrewNZ 4 years ago
put some real pp next time, not some normal blood chockes... judo and bbj do excactly the same as Pecherin72 pointed out already
JorritL 4 years ago
this is just like the rear naked choke. all it does is just stop blood flow to the brain but i bet its a lot easier to escape the 2 thumbs on the neck
laredo444 4 years ago 2
yup. no 'kyusho jitsu' magical nonsense here at all. plain old blood choke. except, as you mention, this method is a joke to escape.
dem0819 4 years ago
oh and nice job letting the guys head hit the concrete, leeroy. guess you didn't realize this wasn't a fake KO like the rest of your sham 'martial art'.
dem0819 4 years ago
Did no-one understand what he said at the start? THIS IS A DEMO, not the technique that you would actually use, such as striking etc, which he bloody stated at the start!
practicaltaekwondo 4 years ago
Fuck I tought it was a fake, but I tried on my self... Omg it was amazing I almost had a colaps, but it don`t work again for some reason.

Hey dentalot you should really drop the gay videos on your page, unless you are trying to tell us something. And, if you want any credibility behind your comments, you really should post some of your own videos instead of the muppet crap you have up there.
kyusho1 4 years ago
Hey Leeroy, good job. I see you have idiots posting on your site too. It's a shame they can't see it for what it is. So you're not with George? I'll be teaching in Barcelona in November hope you can make it.

If you think it's BS, than you must be less than 15 years or just old and stupid... if you ask any doctor if he press on that point he will tell you, that you will stop the flow of blood going to your brain and you will pass out.
LoveLegendLeeroy 4 years ago
Ok so show me a video of this working against a non compliant partner. Say a boxer or someone who is not a member of your organization.
dentalot 4 years ago
If someone close the artery on the site of the neck, by using a chock (naked chock) you will pas out,
I pressed with my fingers for demonstration, but in a real fight you will use the chock..
If you still not convince please feel free to come to my MMA class and I will demonstrate on you.
LoveLegendLeeroy 4 years ago
Well I'm not going to travel to the Netherlands. Why not stop by a Judo or BJJ school and show us your techniques working in a competitive environment.
dentalot 4 years ago
dentalot, this is exactly the same choke used in Judo and BJJ! in Judo they use the lapel of the gi to do this. I think this clip is only trying to point out that those are the vulnerable points.
