So strange foolish people criticized Mel Gibson for his supposedly too graphic depiction of the crucifixion when in actual historical fact it was far worse, but of course due to his Christian testimony he had to be destroyed in any degenerate lying way possible.
That's the thing; no other god died like Jesus. Osiris died, but not as a human. Others may have died, but there was nothing human or personal about their deaths. This story is so different, that the unbeliever would appeal to his own prejudice and presuppose a hoax. It wasn't pretended. We have to concede otherwise that His entire life was pretend- that he wasn't really born, that he never experienced what it meant to be human, that he didn't understand the value of human life.
I've sung this in a choir It's great fun, and the harmony really works superbly. The basses get the most interesting part, and the tenors spend some time up on the higher notes: Bach never spared the performer, not even his choristers: the music came first and the musicians second. (Well, I suppose for Bach that God came first, really.)
