6 o clock rock was on the ABC from 60 to mid 61. He went to channel 7-it was called the Johnny O Keefe show, but he had a car accident and a breakdown and that nice clean folk singer bloke with the hush puppies and the corduroy dacks,Lionel long took over!JOK< came back as compere-they called it Sing, sing, sing.this is from that show.
The chord change leading from verse to chorus is great, but the modulation at 1:18 is just freaking sick! And listen to how she's struggling to not go flat near the end of the chorus, starting around 1:30. I love it. It would be autotuned/pitch corrected now, sucking all the intensity out of what it means to work for a note.
worked in england and europe for qiuite a few years some on the max bygraves show met her in 1984 she wa s singing on the club circuit lost touch in 88 but she was healthy and fine back then and i think a much better singer and no leslys version is much better i think this was on 6 oclock rock with jok

Don't think this is from "Bandstand" as Johnny O'Keefe , not Brian Henderson, does the introduction. Most likely from "Sing Sing Sing" which was on the "Australian Television Network" which was the fancy name for Channel 7 in the 1960's."Bandstand" was on Channel 9.
This clip would have been from 1963-64 when Lesley Gore sang the original version.
Hi Paris, your mother is quite a legend here in the UK.
She once recorded with the Judy Bailey Quartet on the album, "Colours" in 1976. Denise was featured on the track, "Colours Of My Dream", and her contribution was outstanding, for her vocals were so beautiful.
This track became a huge track in London Jazz Dance clubs, and as a dj, I continue to play it to the dancers, as it always gets such a great response.
Please send your mother my fullest respect for her magical voice.
Denise Keene was a talented 60s singer for sure Amen.
