  • I got fired up at 8:40 right along with you! That bike is a beast.

  • Your motor and controller should loooove that weather :) staying nice and cool.

  • Nice, but that seems dangerous with front hub on a suspention fork. The lights are horribly inefficient, LED would be way brighter and suck less power.. Seems it would go faster than 43mph/70kph. Crazy huge battery!

  • That battery must have cost a fortune! Nice bike though.

  • How are cheapo bike brakes supposed to stop you when you're going that fast?

  • This is a beast.

  • change out the headlights to LED

  • in India from where i can purchase engine for my wow

  • @shubhgreen

I too have the same question m8 !

  • awsome man,nice bike.best ive seen yet..sweettttt.

  • awsome man,nice bike.best ive seen yet..

  • Can I have it

  • Nice.

  • My build is 24s A123 72v nominal {80v actual} at what I hope is around 80 amps from a 2kw/h pack. Yee ha.

  • I had a BUSETTII bike which can run 50 miles per charge.

  • I have a Mini 40 Mile Busettii bike and it runs 50-55 miles on one battery charge. I also tried my friends Vortex Mountain bike by Busettii. It ROCKS ! Can get up to 32 mph top speed, and on one charge that bike set the new record of 86 miles. Hope it becomes a big hit. In California many people like Busettii because they cost around $1700 but can go 50--86 miles on one charge depending on model. Maria in Cali

  • I hope that fork can handle all that power and got good torque arms.

  • 70 is pretty fast because a person on a bicycle has about the same drag as a full car!

  • Filming in your GREY UNDERWEAR!

    5:13

    Haha Fail.

  • i see someones belly 2:23 lol

  • are you going to sell this bike?

  • are you selling this?

  • I have 27 inch tires rather than 26 inch. Is it possible for me to buy the hub without the wheel, or the 26inch wheel comes with the hub?

  • Does this have to be insured? Does it count as a vehicle?

  • You ain't going 60 what street has a 60 MPH speed limit?

  • Nice video...you did a great job on your setup. What's your opinion having a front hub motor over a rear? When are you going to upgrade for a AWD setup....with a "turbo" boost button that turns on both motors? :-)

What do you figure you have in the complete bike as it is setup in the video?

I've been looking @ the older EV Global bikes (36v) & upgrading them to current specs or even locating a used Tidal Force 2.0 Montague Paratrooper military spec bike for around $2K.

  • but your pedaling it home, sorry but it's embarrasing, front ends abit of a mess really

  • pretty cool. 100 kph? You'd need blinkers, and a motorcycle endorsement to ride that here. Still give me a big ol harely, or a goldwing over it any day :-)

  • Imagine all this, just with no batteries, one antenna and bye bye...

  • Hi could you tell me how you have fitted your cycle annalist to you 72 40 amp speed controller,, dose it have a connection. i have the same set up as you but not sure if mine as the connection.

    please can you help

    many thanks

    mel

  • 5 Stars.

  • WELL DONE. Well done.

  • Awesome e bike dude. Schwinn bikes are collectible.

  • lol thats a beast. i installed a 1200w 48v cyclone kit on my cannondale, it gets close to 50mph i would say, but the range is limited...maybe 20 miles, ill have to check sometime.

  • Hmm Also I can't seem to find the 3000 watt kit you have, I did find a 2500 watt version however it's extremely cost prohibitive at a whopping 2500 bucks :O It'd be great if your kit can do regenerative breaking. If your into it I'd appreciate it if you'd shoot me a PM and chat about the Options I might have to get a setup similar to yours. I don't think I can handle a wimpy little crap hub kit, I won't be happy with those, I need somthing with balls like yours. Cheers, IC.

  • I was going to go with a 2 stroke IC engine but after reading my Laws in Clagary I got frusterated. Electric seemed out of the question as power, spped and range sucked. After seeing this I belive Electric is now a VIABLe option for me, as long as It can do 40- 50kph and give me 100KM range I'm in. How long does the rig take to charge? and ahve you ever had any trouble finding a power outlet at your destinatinos to recharge? To bad these can't quick charge. Cheers, IC.

  • #OMG install 3.0 Kenda SLICKS for moar speed

  • 2.8kwh of juice - you should have an incredible range, you may want to try slick tires aswell. What's the power of the motor?

  • need some High Intensity Discharge headlights on it.

  • Suicide machine of the month award!

  • how much does one of these systems cost?

  • Wow, so this bike is FAST... but seriously NO disc breaks? I can't believe that!

  • He's going nowhere lol

  • 65kph is what in english, mph?

  • Nice job on the bike and great to see a Canadian help lead the way. I regcognized the landscape in your video. You live just 2 buildings away from my son!

I've been thinking for a couple of years now about converting a car to electric. Where did you buy your components from?

  • I cannot imagine going over 40 MPH with a 50 lb load mounted high in the bicycle. I managed to go 40 down a long hill in Vermont with a bike loaded with panniers and it scared the hell out of me. 20 MPH is plenty fast

  • Hey there, how does this baby handle hills?

  • I liked the way you kept the little bicycle bell on the handlebars. I was expecting to see a ship's foghorn in its place, but keeping it was a nice touch amidst the souped-up electrics. Well done. Thanks for posting.

  • Nice prototype. Good luck with production.

  • 2:23 nice ginch. lol

  • Hi there, could I ask your opinion, how well do you think that kit would respond to being used with a 30A controller and a 48v 20Ah Lifepo4 pack?

    Thanks.

  • that guy in the car is probably like " Wat the fuuckk!" LOL =]

  • noob

  • thats mad cool. some zipties would be helpful for the wires coming from the handlebars, but i dont mean to hate.

  • I would like to mount this set up on a German made Felt bicycle..

BUT the felts are about 500 dollars

  • 70 to 85 Kph..?

    that`s about 40 to 50 mph right?

    That is fast enough..

  • Talk about going Green. As they say. Put that in your pipe and smoke, you liberals. However bet they are working on rules rules rules. I loved this guys work. He did a great job on the video also. My Wife is from Canada, and a lot of land up there ride. If you can use the pedels and just a little power to help on the hills, then you sure are fuel eff. Be nice is someone would list contact # and business names for the parts.

  • how fast is the max speed and where can you get it from

  • I want to buy a bicycle like this, where can I buy it?

  • Thanks, way out of my budget right now!

  • Back in the late 1800's they put motors on bikes. It became a business call motorcycles. Is that were this is going?

  • You can not peddle with motorcycle. But electric bike you can do both and plus no polution!!!

  • I want one!!!!! Do you need a license to ride that thing?

  • Its a good thing he didnt hit 88.8 mph or he might have gone back to the future...

  • I was wondering how much was the motor, battery, and controller? I am looking at building my own and I like your set up. You can PM mw so others don't know. Thanks

  • Consider exposure to high EMFs on your electrochemical physiological being. I contracted Multiple Myeloma, a gruesome leukemic disorder, from driving a Toyota Prius.

  • Are you serious? That's frightening!

  • I agree, the specs don't seem completely accurate, but I enjoyed the review. I use 3600w continuous to get 70km/h. The 3200w will range on various criteria but it is a good average.

  • That's a great review, Thanks, BUt the real data are more like 45km/h = 25Wh/km... and you have max 72V 40Ah = 2880Wh

    so for 160km at 45kmh you more need 25 x 160=4000Wh... not 2880...

and at 70km/h you really need 3200W continuous.. that's around 50Wh/km so for 100km you need 5000Wh... so with your battery at 70km/h you can acheive 50km...

based on true tested data for a regular mtb and statistic over the internet.

    Anyway, thanks for your review!

    Doc

  • @Doctorbass Yeah, 266.3Wh/km represents acceleration draw. BTW, on my build, I'm getting between 14 - 16 Wh/km @ 40kph and less than 20 @ 50kph using a clyte 405 @ 48v. The difference is that, I'm fully faired and always pumping ~100w into the pedals.

  • don't hate. You wish you had that bike.

  • ROFL!

  • VH1 where is it now? In the ghetto ha! ha!

  • Amazing !! Five stars....but...

Is it legal to build yr own powerful bike ? Are you just hoping police will trust your engineering ? Or is it all legally approved ?

  • Thanks !!

  • I give this 5 star, 73v nice, I've seen around 100. I use 120v hehe, but it is not a speed bike, it suits its purpose though.

  • Thanks !

  • This is probably the most thorough video on an electric bike I have seen on youtube. Thanks so much for posting it! Tell me, how much money did you invest in total on this bike? I want to do almost the exact same setup.

  • Unfortunately a lot of $, hard to say if you are doing 70k but I believe it. If up hill that must be crazy downhill!! =) I have a video showing 69km/h right to the speedo. If you in the USA you can build for around $1000

  • yes, you can get the motor for $1000 in the US. But you will need a decent battery to power it.

  • I was talking about the whole bike for 1k. everything.

  • Please provide the link / manufacturer of such a bike. I would be very interested in seeing such a bike

  • Thanks for your email. My bike has a range of 160 km, when travelling at 45km/h. At 70 km/hour I get about 100 km. I have never tried going only 35 km/hour, but likely closer to 200 km range.

  • 70km/h for 100km... that must have took quite an investment in batteries. How many AH total is your batteries?

  • I am assuming, your test involved no pedalling.

  • Thanks for the compliment. It is a great bike to ride.

  • Cool set up.

A few things I'm curious about... Where did you get the power switch for the headlights that went in the cycle analyst case?

And how do you get the taillight to get brighter when you brake?

    Thanks!

  • Hi, what company in china did you get the battery pack off,and do they have a web site, very interested in all this as i have the crystalyte phinx racer kit and need the batteries. Would appreciate your help.

  • The power switch is from a local electronics store. They are a very common part. I installed a second switch on the back of the cycle analyst that allows me to turn the override settings on (to control the Amps and max speed), or to toggle it off to allow for full power.

The tail light uses a regular automotive tail lightbulb that has two elements inside. A simple toggle switch on the brake cable engages the bright element for the stop light.

    Hope this helps !

  • I don't know if any state of province would consider that a bike anymore.

  • I have a limiter on it for street riding to abid by all local laws. I cannot go over 32km/hour / 500 watts when I am using it for daily use.

  • Why do you have both a thumb throttle and cruise control? Also, what are the speed increments on the cc? I'm looking to convert my bike and assumed I had to pick one or the other.

  • The thumb throttle is for manual operation. Kinda like a gas pedal in a car. Cruise control holds the bike at a given speed so that you do not have to keep holding down on the throttle. This is especially needed for long trips where you are not doing any stop and go. You cannot operate the bike without a throttle, the cruise control is optional. It increments by about 5 miles per hour each press of the +, or decreases by 5 mph for each - press. The break levels cuts the cruise and throttle

  • Hi

Yes nice bike! and a cool video, bike is plenty fast as well, word of warning though, get at least one good solid torque arm on that front fork, else it will turn and rip out the wires, worse case it will snap off.

It so important when running that kind of power to fit a torque arm or even 2 when you are going to 72V 40A, so many people learn the hard way.

Keep safe and please more vids!

    Knoxie

  • I've got the tork arms on it. The fork is steel, and I've tested various options and found that steel is the only way to go.

I will be posting a couple of interesting vids come summer time.

  • Have you upgraded the front fork? If so, what kind, where did you get it? If not, are you worried that the motor might rip it out? What about tork arms? Great job!!

  • The front fork is steel. I have experimented and found that aluminum would not be a good idea, as it can break easily. I have a tork arm, and the nuts have been torked down with a proper bar. I also check every couple hundred miles to make sure nothing has come lose.

  • 4000 on batteries!holy shit, that pack even though i assume it's Lifepo4 must weigh a lot!i dont know why people think speed on a bike is so cool, over 30 - 35 mph its just scary!range is so much more awesome!

  • The battery weighs about 50 pounds, but you don't notice it, with the power the bike has. 50 - 60 mph feels like riding a regular gas motorcycle. I will end up upgrading the frame for full suspension.

  • Kudos!

  • It can go 112 km/hour. The motor and electronics was $1000 and the battery was $4000.

  • cool bike do how fast can it go up to and how much did it cost?
