people forget that music is self expression. there is no wrong way to play an instrument since the whole point is expression.. just like there are no limits in other forms of art such as painting and sculpting. People need to stop telling others what to do and just listen or leave it alone.

@MrGTI05 i agree with you, i play guitar and drums and know hardly any music theory, but i can also see the light of the opposing, people use theory to easier understand and convey exactly whats in their head that they want to express, and can record it all into sheet music and such, so both ways of playing and/or hearing music is totally acceptable, although, music theorist who think its stupid not to learn this, can shut up, its annoying

Eh, it doesn't sound quite as good as a guitar, and it's not what basses were meant for, I'd recommend spending time learning other things first (like WALKING, which is what the bass does best in swing); although it isn't too hard to learn the chords anyways.

because it's a tool to be used in music. the best players are good because they have a full range of ability, not just cause they can walk a bass.

Walking a bass, and I mean REAL walking (not the blues box or anything), is all ready very difficult and time consuming to learn. Again, it isn't too hard to learn the chords on the bass anyways, but it's better to learn them mostly so you can do arpeggios

I assume when you say "REAL" walking you are referring to more of the Jazz style, and yes that is more difficult (but no more 'real') than the blues style. every Bass player will find his own collection of skills to hone and mold into an individual style. Chords are just as much a tool as Jazz walking, and besides, Walking by it's very nature uses Chord's and chord structures, would you agree?

the bass is an elrick custom made bass. These videos were actually just a one time shot i did with expert village. I havent done any other videos since this fist series, but if yall have any questions i can try to answer them for you.
