I think Rives had definately proven his credentials, so grant him a bit of Poetic License here. And try using yor poetic mind, not your rational brain. I hope you never have to experience being without someone you love, or the kind of fear that comes from being small against a giant adversary, but mathematiccs become very inconsequential at those times.
