For the first time, the extent of fraud, corruption, and child trafficking in international adoption between Guatemala and the United States has been credibly determined. Thousands of previously-unreleased government documents obtained by investigative journalist Erin Siegal from the U.S. Embassy in Guatemala paint a vivid picture of what, exactly, the U.S. government knew about criminal wrongdoing in adoption, including kidnapping, orphan "laundering," and even the murder of birth mothers.
Congrats, guys, Josanna is a lovely addition to your already beautiful family. @9.23, she really looked like a stow-away! :-) Okay, I wanted to type while you guy's video was playing, but could not unpeal my eyes from the beauty of the pics of you guys bonding with your new little bundle, and okay, thanks guys, for making me tear up and cry quite a little bit during the video; just beautiful. And, beautiful friends all way around! God bless your lovely family!
@marcimello Thank you! Josanna is such a blessing to our family! I still tear up every time I watch this video too as it brings back so many memories.
when you flew home, where did you get the baby cot.... was that something you brought or the airline provided? we are also adopting from Ethiopia:-) thank you for sharing and congrats:-)
@wodindog The baby cot was provided by the airline KLM. Just ask for one when you book your tickets. It was so nice to have as our daughter was not used to being held all the time and it gave her and us a little break. Yeah for you guys that you have opened up your hearts to Ethiopia. It is a wonderful country and our expirience was awesome!
hi, im from ethiopa i was adoped my goal is to find all the people adopting babys and tell you as a child growing up i always wished i could have gone back to ethiopa as a child and learn to speak amharic but i must say my mother took me to a camp in californa called ethiopan heritage camp if you look up the camp amber stime runs it PLEASE look into going to a camp!!!!to let her know and lern her coulture and i was 9 months when i was adopted to so GREAT time to start teaching her her heritage!
@lovin2840 Thank you for your input. I will certainly look into that camp once our daughter is old enough. We have a local man here from Ethiopia who has offered to teach amharic and I am planning on taking advatage of that in a few years as well. Thank you!
Beautiful video. We were one of the first families to make two trips under the new law. We met our daughter at Toukoul in late July, and we leave this Friday to bring her home!
How long did the process take? As a black woman, it is great to see that you saw beyond the color and adopted a beautiful baby girl, Good luck and you family of 5 will always be blessed!
@TeTe20121 The process took about 18 months from the time we started paperwork to the time we brought our daughter home. She is such a sweetie and she fits right into our family.
