  • One thing that distinguished that Cincy crowd was they quite resourceful with their food. Besides the peanut butter for Iggy Pop, they also nailed Alice Cooper in the face with a pound cake the same night!

  • what song is this?

  • @Chemicalwarfare84 the first is T.V. Eye, the next one is 1970, both from their second album, Fun house, which can be found on my channel if you want to listen to it...

  • love both the performance and the description :)

  • Fucking awesome

  • Iggy here reminds me of Darby Crash of the Germs. Wonder if Darby had any influence from him? Probably, as many punk bands of the late 70s/early 90s did, but here the voice, the mike positioning, the stage antics (Darby was definately real and intense like Iggy).

Wow, this is just incredible, hard to conceive this was going on in the 1970 and the crowd seemed to love it.

Check out the dude near the end with the Kodak Instamatic camera!

  • can singers even do that anymore

music has been so currpted since then

  • Western music peaked right there.

  • If this were today, some hypochondriac with a mild peanut allergy would probably sue him for reckless endangerment or something.

  • when is this from?

  • Anyone ever notice how Rage Against the Machine ripped off the TB Eye riff for their song "Sleep Now In the Fire"?

  • WOW! What a Performer!, its kinda sad knowing that while this awsome band is now in the R&R Hall Of Fame There will never be anything like this again. All the shit out now is commercial BS. All the great talent is either dead or fadng away. Rest In Peace Rock N Roll We Miss U So Much!

  • @BiGLoS2212 Accidently flipped by the AMA's the other night and with the likes of kesha, beiber, and whatever shit-rap, r&b act it was made an observation: MUSIC IS DEAD!

  • Now THAT is crowd surfing!!

Do any rockers even jump into the crowd like that anymore??

Seriously, you just can't top guys like these.

And as far as guitarists go, I'll take someone wailing away half out of tune with his Gibson plugged straight into screaming Marshall any day before a soulless automaton sweep picking arpeggios and doing acrobatics. One note bent just right with feeling means a lot more to me than a machine playing 100 per second.

    Anyway, awesome video man!

  • wow, what ishe saying

  • HOLY MOTHER FUCKIN CHRIST: That Rocked!!!!

  • This came out on TV in the summer. With Alice Cooper!

  • 4:26 "THAT'S PEANUT BUTTER" - CLASSIC

  • Man this was 1970 - if I was a 50 year old commentator this would scare the hell out of me! :)

But yeah, now it's seriously the worst decade in the pop culture history and it's HOPEFULLY ending.

Like I can find good revolting music with balls that was available to the masses and became popular starting in 50's way to the 90's.

But now It's all just incredibly stupid, incredibly boring or both.

No madness, no rebellion, no message, no fun, it's all just flawless instant bullshit.

  • @carlosthegaucho so manypeopl complain about this, I challenge all of us to do something about it!!!!! Lets do something musical! lets have some fun! lets convey a message that we care about! LETS GET FUCKIN CRAZY!!!!!!

  • iggy and the stooges at their peak, what a great band,i can't believe the square head commentator it must have been an "out there" experience for him but he seems to have dug it,man i grew up in the best era of music ever,we were spoilt musically back then, now all you get is nickelback, lady gag gag or green day,sad ending to music, but at least we still got the memories and the music, congrats stooges on the hall of fame, well deserved

  • Finally, Iggy Pop and The Stooges get there well deserved spot in The Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame!

  • I know most people - in the WORLD (not only musicians) - were on SOMETHING or other at any given time in 1970. Goes without saying. But you know how, like, NY Dolls were druggies but you'd see Johannsen perform and he seemed with it? He was awake and doing his thing?

Well I've never seen Iggy perform before. Is this Iggy Pop "awake and doing his thing"? Or is he completely smashed in this video (Johnny Thunders style)? Because he seems weird as [expletive] here.

  • I saw him sober and he was even more intense, I think he's fucked here.

  • what 's this song name? 1:11

  • @sk8man182 Iggy Pop and The Stooges - TV Eye.

  • No live show can get any better than classic Iggy.

  • This is the greatest rock TV event. This was broadcast on a local station in Ohio live. Lester Bangs gives a great story about it.

  • EPIC!!!!!!!!!!

  • and look where they are? My stiff ass town, Cincinnati!

  • Haha, the guy's like, "That's peanut butter!" Haha, cool vid.

  • Really ahead of their times , the true father of punk!

    Incredible

  • proof that the 60's music scene in the mid-east was much more exciting than the "mellow" shit on the west.

  • The Stooges were the original "punk" band... well the first classification of the term. Now my question is, why aren't they in the rock n' roll hall of fame?

  • because the rock and roll hall of fame is only in it for the money and jann wenner and those other businessmen can't get people to pay a few thousand bucks to attend a gala for one of the greatest musical groups of all time. believe it or not a lot people couldnt give a shit about the stooges. the rock and roll hall of fame is the complete opposite of what rock and roll SHOULD be anyways so if I was Iggy I wouldnt care.

  • and the good thing is... he doesn't, thats why he performed when madonna got inducted, to kinda say fuck you to everyone, I mean whats more punk than that is what I say.

  • because the rock n roll hall of fame sucks i mean they inducted run dmc since when are they a rock band plus they suck and iggy is the greatest its stupid that they cant get any good bands in

  • yeah i think your right... thats why I didnt like it when metallica was inducted... all they did was make one album that "everyone" loved and bitched at napster for freee music, great contribution to the music world if you ask me.

  • i think the same way its dumb that metallica got in i could see them getting in eventually because lots of people like them but what about all the bands that infuenced them iron maiden, judas preist, motorhead do they not exsist its also stupid that they got in as soon as their 25th aniversery started the hall of fame needs to put more bands like the ramones sex pistols misfits iggy pop & the stooges(which they might put them in rons honor) i have a list of who should be in and isnt

  • @Walkingart82834 They are a garage band not punk dickhead

  • @enrikejs "Garage/Proto-Punk" honestly it's a genre don't argue over it... But seriously, who doesn't consider themselves a "Garage Band" anymore?

  • @enrikejs ..thanks, they are definitely garage , any one who says otherwise wouldnt have a friggen clue

  • @sideshowdazza Dude... freaking out over a specific genre classification error isn't something to get your panties in a bunch over... besides either way, the stooges paved the way for pretty much every band after them, if a band now doesn't list the stooges as a major influence then they are liars. So in a sense the stooges fall under the genre of what i (and pretty much all of us here) like to call "The Greatest" because you can't get any better than this.

  • @Walkingart82834 Why would a punk band even *want* to be in the lame RARHOF? I'd think such a development would destroy whatever punk cred they have!

  • @jtdavis62 Really good comment - you get it, bro'. I never understood why so many "punks" give creedence to that fake institute

  • @Walkingart82834 I think they are now. But who cares about some crummy industry hall of fame anyway? Their influence can never be questioned and true music fans know how important they are, or were.

  • @Walkingart82834 because theyre too good for it. other than some significant exceptions it is more of an insult to be in inducted rather than an honor

  • @Walkingart82834 THEY ARE!

  • wow, that was the legendary peanut butter. he must have got it from someone in the crowd. not planned. the commentator is perfect. the contrast!

  • Holy crap, the sax player rocks. This is why I like the Stooges more than actual punk bands.

  • lol if you think about it the stooges are actual punk

  • I was under the assumption they were....

  • yeah but the guy said "I like the stooges more than actual punk" but the stooges are actual punk so his comment doesn't make much sense to me

  • only a revisionist would say it was punk. It wasn't on the radar at the time.

  • God bless the Stooges!

  • they where such good times! whis the 70`s started now:P..hhehe

  • any commentator today would make some sarcastic remark about the peanut butter... our boy just says 'thats peanut butter' and leaves it at that. PERFECT!

  • i know! its hilarious!

  • The commentator sounds like Hank Hill.

  • do u want my pants go down like taht? BLAM.... mhh Charlie's good in idea tonight... remember me some... 1 or 2 years before?

  • That's so fucking badass, when Iggy is doing his thing yelling "I FEEL ALRIGHT", and the chick next to him goes "Are you alright?"

  • "That's peanut butter." HAHA!

  • stop pickin on the commentator. he rocks

  • Iggy is a GOD

  • Y'all need to realize.

When Iggy did this, nothing like this had ever happened before.

This was during the time of the hippies and the British Invasion and such.

His singing sucked so bad, but he was an amazing performer.

    He invented the stage dive.

And that reporter didn't know he was witnessing the birth of punk rock...

  • fukcin awsome!!~!

  • What the hell is with the geriatric commentator. Did he stumble into this show thinking it was a Golden Oldies show with Dean Martin or Frank Sinatra? What a fuckin' classic.

  • I love your comment! Hilarious! Back in the day (way before MTV), commentators of all ages used to report on entertainment happenings. I will admit, this reporter did not think "outside of the box." He showed his age/cultural differences big time. :)

  • That was awesome.

  • this video's the mother fucking shit, hands down, why he's playing with those fags sum41 i have no fucking clue!!!
