I don't like the reserve seat thing very much. Me and my friends are "theater hoppers" so maybe that's why. XD Thankfully theaters here don't use it except for special events.
I really like the idea of reserving your seats when you buy your tickets. It really is a great system. It also helps deter "theater hopping" because when you go to a movie that you didn't pay for, you might get booted out by the people who bought the seat fair and square.
OMMGee, watching this makes me ask America why are we sooooooo behind the times? This is an awesome concept...OH I have to see the rest of the world up close and personal. Guys get your college degree and do some teaching and see the world(maybe im projecting my desires on ya'll...my bad - yeah im ready to move like ASAP)
A local theater chain here in Utah has the same seat reservation system... so it's not just foreign countries, there are smart companies here doing the same thing. The other major theater here is Cinemark, & I'm pretty sure the local guys are winning for market share right now. :) They let you pick your seats on a touch screen at the theater, or you can do the same thing from home on their website, or a mobile app. (search: Megaplex Theatres)
waah! you guys are awesome! i've been wanting to go to korea someday, and im afraid im gonna be clueless when i get there,, your vids are an awesome sneek peek of what im going to see and experience.. thanks a loooot! :D
here (in finland) you can also pick the seats beforehand at the counter, but you can also just simply buy or reserve the seats at home on the internet.
I agree that there are many things that we took from Japan, but I can't agree with the statement 'a joke of Japan' cuz there are also things that Japan don't have, and, I want to tell you this. American made cars for the 1st time, so is every car made in other country is just a joke of America? If you still want to insist that Korea is just a copy of Japan, again I want to tell you this, as hawaiikai2 said, we koreans transferred our culture to Japan since 7th century.
@hawaiikai2 you ignorant fool. if you are going to state that korean society is just a joke of japan. guess what? most of japanese culture has transferred from korea from the baekjae dynasty. japan is japan. korea is korea. don't start with the whole "copy" shit.
Italians do that too... the real problem is that they have a break in the middle of the movie. I know it's not suppose to be a problem because you can go to the toilet without missing the movie but if you are in the crucial part of the movie is so annoying =/ Since in my country they don't do that i'm not used to it...
When you arrive at the theatre you take a stub from the machine that gives you a number - this number is what number you are in the the line. When the screen shows your number, you're up!
When you get your actual movie ticket, it has the row and seat number on it - the seats in the theatre are numbered, so your seat is assigned and nobody will take your seat. If they do, you just show them your ticket and they'll move.
I thought that at first, too, but it actually makes it more convenient. You pick your seats when you buy your tickets, so you don't have to scramble in the theatre to try to get a good seat.
I'm so jealous watching all these vids... i'd like to teach in English in Korea but i'm guessing i'd have to finish my degree from UofM (Michigan) first, I failed two classes in my last semester but chose to follow a great sales job at the time and have to retake those classes :-/ Seeing you have a puppy of your own, do you know much about taking pets to and from Korea? I've read it's not that difficult..? I have two cats that I couldn't imagine leaving here...
"and having one of these numbers saves you from beating someone up!" "which we haven't done!" "uh yes!" "and we wouldn't do?" "nuh-no...*shakes head*"
XDD i love you guys! i love your korean videos because now i'm prepared for when i live in korea someday!!
omggg i loovee that pig!! :) if i ever go to korea (which i hope) that will be the first thing that i would buy :) it looks like the one that leeteuk has on one of his picutres, i love him too :D
Both. We see american movies (with Korean subtitles!) and Korean movies (without subtitles) or we rent Korean movies and watch with subtitles. Some theaters offer english subtitles for older Korean movies.
I can't answer the smell question because it depends on where you live in Korea or Canada. City or rural area? But seriously, great question...LOL!!!
Ahh, I don't remember if that came out. :P Anyways, we always rent Korean movies (the old fashion way) and I'll just have to wait for Antique and other movies to hit the shelf with subs. yeaaaaaa MOVIE RENTALS!
We should be using that system here in Canada for a lot of things, particularly as civility seems to be increasingly on the decline everywhere. I'm a bit surprised to learn about the Koreans budding in to lines. I thought were supposed to be a polite people. Hmm. :)
What's strange is, they don't actually bud like North Americans. The problem for us is everyone stands really close together, but it feels weird to be that close to someone, so if we leave more than a foot of space they think we're just not in line. So we're trying to discard our "personal bubble".
This response felt a bit more like a time warp! LOL. More than a foot means you're not in line?! LOL. OMG! Hilarious! In submarines they say, "up bubble" or "down bubble." Sounds like with you folks it's gonna be "no bubble." LOL. There is a comedy skit in there somewhere ( not sure where though). Very interesting cultural stuff though. Thanks for sharing it as always. :)
they are. they did this so that you don't have to stand in a line to buy the ticket. normally they have seats there, so you can just sit and wait for your turn or go and do something else while waiting.
um... people to people politeness and discipline is surely the priority, but among many groups of people individualism is more apparent, different than japan where you keep distance between yourself and everyone, even people close to you. In groups Korean people tend to care more about their own groups and stuff. but mostly they're polite people :)
Thank you for that insight. Having not traveled to Korea or Japan, my only exposure is what I see here and on TV. Cultural differences are always very interesting. From you are saying, it sounds like Koreans are very polite. :)
