I have seen the 1943 serial on DVD which is its original form.
I have heard an urban legend that when a re-edited/slightly shortened version of the 1943 Bat-Serial was re-released in 1966 that all references to "Japs" were supposedly crudely overdubbed with "Reds".
Is this true??
If it is, one would think that Tokyo and not Moscow was The Communism Capitol Of The World!
This is actually the 1966 "reissue" trailer for the '49 serial, featuring footage from the initial '43 edition. Columbia did brisk theatrical business that summer of '66, with re-edited "feature" versions of both serials, and special "marathon" engagements of both.
The 1943 serial titled "Batman" was re-released in late 1965 and shown all in one sitting and called "An Evening with Batman and Robin". It was again re-released (supposedly April 1966) and shown in a two part format - and this time it was advertised as "Batman and Robin", although it was the 1943 serial and not the 1949 serial. And that is what this trailer is from - make sense?

Cheesy, but at least this is better than 'Batman Begins' and 'Dark Knight.'

True. This movie is probably more intelligent than Nolan's tautological efforts
