Either it's a medical issue or a social one. Are we circumcising so that Johnny doesn't get teased in the locker-room like Crutchfield's classmate? Or are we circumcising as "a tool" in 'the fight against STDs"? If it's the former then the circumcision rate is decreasing so that is no longer a valid point (if it ever was). And if it's the latter then where's the research? Where's the debate? Where's the doctor who discusses the functions of the foreskin?

circumcision is an ethics issue. parents have no right to cut off a healthy part of a baby's, body. if an infection occurs it can be treated with antibiotics.

social reasons: the only people that are going to see the child's penis are the child, the parents, until teenage years. during teenage years maybe a sexual partner. in the locker room 50% of children are uncut.

religious reason: cutting a part of a baby's body because a book written 2000+ years ago told you to is not good enough

I find it interesting that the "doctor/authority" interviewed in the story is obviously pro circ. We have all been trained to respect and obey such figures. "They know best". Why wasn't a "doctor/authority" interviewed to speak about the harm of circumcision? Parents shamefully in shadow because they chose to leave their baby intact and a child mutilator proudly in the spot light. My God what a twisted society we live in. CIRCUMCISION VIOLATES THE HUMAN RIGHTS OF THE CHILD.

@ilikeoptter Exactly. And the anti-circ parents can't even show their faces, as if they are criminals or informants. It's so theatrically obvious. They can't show a healthy intact penis on a baby but they show the excised foreskin. Notice that all the babies shown being circumcised were crying, and the one at the end who had just been circumcised was obviously in a semi-coma.

I only wish the parents who left their son intact had been able to show their faces. I guess I understand, but leaving your kid intact and being out about it is nothing to be ashamed of. I think the doctors who perform this assault should be the ones ashamed to show their faces.

Foreskin and clitoris are the most vital parts of the sexual anatomy for sexual pleasure.

This American Doctor isn't looking at the ethics (only the "benefits") because he was cut.

The foreskin contains about 85% of the penile nerve endings, and about 100% of the fine touch nerve receptors (the same nerve endings found in the clitoris, Meissners Corpuscles).

If anyone questions this, just ask me for the studies and I'll provide them for you.
