If you are going to Hadrians Wall you could go to Housteads Fort. I'd recommend it. I live about 3 hours from Edinburgh but I've never been there but I would love to. Also never been to Glasgow but intend to go there to see John Rennie Macintosh's houses and designs.
Might I very nicely suggest that you learn how to pronounce Edinburgh before you get there. Better chance of not getting looked at strangely. It's not Edin-boro. It's more like Edin-bur-uh.
