IT IS PURELY DOWN TO FINANCE, IF SPL CLUBS HAD THE REVENUE FROM TV RIGHTS LIKE CLUBS DOWN SOUTH DO, THEN THE PLAYING FIELD WOULD BE A LOT MORE EVEN!!! hey man, Im a lifelong RANGERS FAN, and would just like to say there are a number of issues nedding resolved, but I WOULD NOT GO as Far as to say that scottish football is SHITE!!!... YES THERE IS NOT A LOT OF STRENTH AND DEPTH, AND YES THE SPLIT IS RIDICULOUS. none the less Rangers made the uefa cup final in 08 and this year HIBS BUILT A NEW STAND AND ABERDEEN ARE ABOUT TO BUILD A NEW 30000 SEAT STADIUM. Hi Jamamafegan, I completely agree with you, but I just want to make one point clear to everybody: I DO NOT HATE SCOTTISH FOOTBALL!!! I actually do not want it to be weakened, and so I offer a few constructive ideas on how it could be improved (you can take or leave my proposals, mind). The problem here comes down to my deliberately abrasive title which I simply chose in order to get more views. Kinda rueing it now, tho. However, the vid itself does not speak bad of the Scottish game, so...

Also, most leagues in the world only have 2 or 3 teams with the chance of winning the league

england - man u or chelsea

france - lyon win every year

spain - barca or real

portugal - porto

so its not really a surprise that only cletic or rangers win it every year

plus the gap between the old firm and the other teams is narrowing

Hi johncm1989, you're right thta there usually one or two teams which dominate each league. But I'm sorry, the difference between the Old Firm domination in Scotland and the situation in England is not comparable. As I said, around 80% of the titles in the 20th Century went to Celtic or Rangers.... Liverpool and Man Utd jointly hold the most titles in England, and yet between them that is only 38 titles.

Also johncm, the "top 2" semi-regularly changes in English football, but not so in Scottish football. In Scotland, the top two has ALWAYS been the Old Firm. In England, it's arguably currently Man Utd and Chelsea, but Arsenal are definitely challenging. A few yrs back it was Man Utd and Chelsea. Etc. Before that Liverpool, Everton, Villa, etc etc. You get my point, I trust. But you're right; the gap at the top of the SPL is definitely narrowing, and may it continue to do so!

@BryanAJParry Hearts split the auld firm,a few years ago.And might do it again this year.And Kilmarnock are playing totall football.And Inverness have just came up,and drawn twice with auld firm.Scottish fooball is far from shite.We just need to re struckture the league,to what the fans want.Cos at the end of the day,they keep these teams in existance.But they dont want the 16 team league cos of financial reasons.It would bring us through more players.And get sum of the teams playing attacking

Rangers and Celtic are the equivilent of strong championship teams; the rest of the SPL is of league 1/2 standard. Your remarks about Inverness drawing with the Old Firm are also laughable. There is nothing remarkable about drawing with the Old Firm. The Scottish league is probably on par with the Cypriot league; no hyberbole.

@gwangjuboy1 Falkkirk knocked Rangers out the cup this year.And they are in the first div.Ayr and Kilmarnock and playing in the semi,who are bitter rivals.Ayr have knock out 3 SPL teams along the way.INVERNESS,HEARTS,ST MIRREN.There is life outside the SPL.And even if the SPL,Motherwell have been in 2nd place for most of the year.Why are EPL and championship clubs buying our players?Why are Scots running teams in all those leagues?And have a habit of doing well?Gers could easily stay up in EPL.
