  • racist in a cute way ^^

  • They gave the monkey man a british accent I think...

  • I like how the banana bitch is discouraging this guy from being a cannibal but she's encouraging people to her own species! She's pretty cannibal herself!

  • is that a monkey or a black man?

  • Don't eat him...Eat my species instead!!

  • I liked the recipe for scalloped bananas. I made it not too long after watching this commercial and I must say scalloped bananas are quite delicious!

  • I liked the other commercials better than this one at least there was no racial stereotyping in them!

  • Holy toledo - what a kooky mishmash of stereotypes.

Overdone African man with immense lips, dressed in a starched formal shirt-front and little else, speaking in a cultured English accent for an incongruous comic effect.

British explorer with pith helmet and (apparently) no clothing while in the stewpot and later, the oven.

Chiquita Banana herself, an imitation of Carmen Miranda in both her outfit and her movements.

  • i like it a little racist but good like good old days. people believed in steryotypes. they banned a tom and jerry episode because it had the same cannibals

type in "Tom & Jerry His Mouse Friday"

    no steroytypes are true

no women are not bad drivers

black people do not have big dicks

    not all mexicans are poor

  • I like the animation

  • how is this racist

  • RACIST!!!! well back in the day all of them were still were!!!

  • i don't think this means racism. ee must understand that in 40's americans didn't know so much about Africa.

  • i forgot the most important thing:

the chiquita-woman brings civilization to him. because the cannibal is pretty much drawn as the "negro"-sterotype, people would think that it's typical that a brighter person brings civilization to the africans/savages. this is at least very colonialist.

i would'nt say that this is too racist in the meaning that it should be prohibited to view or anything, far from it, but you can not deny that we should be critical about the image it spreads/spreaded in 1947!

  • @ worldwidemarket!

first of all it says "the cannibals", but there's only one!

then: he is dressed in an "european" style and speaks english (with african accent), but he's a cannibal. did you think about what this implies? then, the hole scenery is so typical and sterotype with the british colonial man etc. so, our image of africa/the black man etc is reproduced. quite often, also things which are not actually intended to be racist can sustain or reproduce ways of thinking that lead to racism!

  • holy racist.

  • Bullshit! Those natives, did eat people, so cut the crap. I can't stand people who live their lives looking for racism at every turn and finding it, even when they have to make it up!

  • just love that brit accent at the begining...cheerio

  • i hope mcdonalds doesn't see this although it's still a good source of potassium and vitamin c. best of the series.

  • I wish the commercials were just like this nowadays.

    But alas..
