I have an 8 month old Lab/Boykin mix that does this trick. It is by far his favorite! His commands are "speak" for a bark and "inside voice" for a whisper. He is pretty good at knowing which one to do according to where he is as well. When we are inside and I ask him a question (such as "do you want it?") he responds with his inside voice and does his "outside voice" or "speak" when playing fetch and he wants me to throw it already. Such a cute dog & I'm happy I've seen another dog do this!!
Thanks for the comments, we love this breed for their loyalty and focus, Leia loves doing tricks for fun, between tricks she does AKC Obedience where she has earned her CDX and RE so far.
i have a 8yr old Doberman dog he is very loyal , but very active even know he can be taught tricks and remember them ,they need lots of walking and crave attention they will put them self s between you and attacker to protect you , wonderful dogs .
I really have to argue that the Doberman Pinscher is the "5th" most intelligent breed. I don't think there is any other breed more attentive and focused than the Doberman. This is impressive.
I will also argue that point. I've always heard the Dobie is second only to the Poodle as far as ability to learn and retain training. Having owned a couple of poodles, I now question that rumor. After owning a dozen plus Dobermans over the years, I've yet to find a dog with more intelligence or loyalty...
Dogs love to bark, but at first I would only click and treat for mouth movement, then any small noise. I taught her to do it on command for "whisper". then we moved on to Bark. Click and treat for loud "bark" then click and treat for low "whisper". I remember trying to teach her to bark as a puppy- but that was too loud and too easy. I prefer the whisper:)
@ripcurlgrl86 oops...see above reply. thanks for watching. She does lots of other tricks too. there's a book called 101 dog tricks by Kyra Sundance it's a "how to book" and she offers a certificate for "trick dog titles". She has a website and she is on facebook.
Agreed. I don't understand why so many people make such a fuss about C&D. It's a huge part of the breed's heritage, and it compliments their beautiful body lines. Otherwise, they tend to look like black and tan hounds.
i want to thank you for this.. I used your method and taught my 5 year old dobe this trick. Everyone loves it
