so i like to take a long worm and pitch in either under docks with a seven foot pole or in sunken willow bushes with a 6" 5 pole... i catch lots of large mouth, but how can i catch small mouth?
Smallies are a different beast all together. Althought alot of the same lures are used ( Spinnerbaits, Jigs, Crankbaits, plastics, etc..) the techniques are altered or different all together. For Smallies in rivers try natural colored un-weighted soft plastics (senkos, dingers) in the slack water pools. On lakes look for gravel bottoms and try ripping a lipless crankbait over bottom. Look for sandy shoals with boulders and try burning a double willow all white 1/2ounce spinnerbait.
@ponchotime856 He's not pulling a backlash he's letting line out for the jig to fall more naturally instead of falling back towards him. Pretty common technique.
You should check out the new DVD by OMEGA Advanced Jig Fishing Techniques. I teaches the different aspects of jig fishing such as what to look for, how to retrieve, when to use different types of jigs etc...
I really need to become a better Jig fishermen I'll throw it out 15 or 20 times catch nothing then switch to my safety baits, either a senko or a crank.
Btw I tried this jig before. But never much skipp it like this but I use it with a combination with a black wiggler. good for weedy area or with lots of lilly pads. caught a 5lbs with it before it got to the trees lol
Well If you fish for bass enough you should know that many times bass are not very picky eater. Some bass are just territory and you might end up catching some through that. In Mn bass will take anything black that moves. If small mouths from rivers they take anything from blueish/greenish lures or jigs. On this video I like how this jig is able to get into tight location. I enjoy fishing for bass from early mornings or late towards the evenings. Just my thoughts.
If you are strictly Flipping I like the 7'6" Hvy. Daiwa Zillion rod. If you are doing more Pitching, roll casting and skipping the 7' Hvy action Zillion by Daiwa is about as good as it gets.
@omegacustomtackle man i wish i was an adult with money, a car and time so i could buy all the fishing videos and gear that i needed-that would be great
love the pro mega 3/8 and 5/8 oz i put a reaction innovation smallie beaver on it for a trailor any suggestions for any other trailors if im using it to pitch docks and other cover?
@VermontFishing101 I personally like a big chunk or craw on these 2 baits. The smallie beaver is excellent on the Baby J Super finesse Jig. Once the water gets in the low 40's I will use it without a skirt on the jig head and it murders cold water Bass.
i wouldnt see the point. The jig and trailer represents a crawfish. With a 7 in worm you just want that to represent what it is...a worm. T-RIG the worm with a bullet weight and ur good to go
Garvrick19 looks like one to me..but not 100% sure..my fishing partner uses steeze.. i use the kistler H2..but dave i have no idea how you skip that bait that way..im such a noob to skipping with a bait caster..my reels looks more like a zoo with the amount of birds nest i have :-(
i have a question.. what was the rod and reel he was using ? and what was that trailer ?

@tubefish123 hopefully you'll feel it. But you should also watch your line because it might twitch...Jig bites can be hard to detect.

the problem we have here in nebraska at the pond i like to go to out in the country is heavy moss, have yet to see a jig that will work on moss.
HuskerFishing 11 months ago
@HuskerFishing You need a heavier jig to punch through the moss then.

The lake does have some rock and areas are silted in as well in upper stretches of the feeder creeks. most bites were 3-5 feet.
