until i see a demo of INSTANT switching from one tone to another without any gap in sound whatsoever... i will never ever ever trust a piece of equipment like this
I just bought Main Stage 2 for my MacBook Air and this looks to be a brilliant compliment. The design of the unit it self seems to be efficient and well thought out in the relationship to Garage Band, Main Stage and Logic. However, not saying it is not worth it, butI did have a tiny bit of sticker shock.
this sounds so good, it's a shame you can't actually get it to sound like that. the amps and stompboxes in garageband are quite bad and you're charging a high amount for something that lets you use this crap without touching your hands. with that money i'd rather buy some proper recoring equipment and get a higher quality sound.
@TheMattPegg What you are hearing in the video was recorded using only the amps and stompboxes in GarageBand. A big part of what what makes it sound so good is GiO. GiO is not only a controller for the amps and stompboxes in GarageBand and Logic, it is also has a very high quality guitar input that captures your guitar's true tone. Give GiO a try, and you will be amazed at how good the amps and stompboxes actually sound in GarageBand.
dislike the garage pedals and amo sounds :| if im gonna pay 400 for the Gio and about 12000 for the mac, jiz, i better go and buy a multi effect with the 400 and an amp with 500 and the rest for an AKG microphone now i can record ten times better! and REALISTIC!
@greenpunk92 I myself like to record real amps as well. But let's look at what it would cost to record a "real" amp sound, and have the variety of amps and pedals that you would have in GarageBand.
So lets say you spend $400 on pedals and $500 on an amp. $400 will give you maybe 3 quality pedals. In GarageBand you have access to 15 different pedals. $500 will buy you a decent amp, but that would not get you any of the amps that are in GarageBand and there are 12 to choose from.
@greenpunk92 Now you still need a computer, a recording interface and microphones. This will vary in price of course, but you can see this adds up to a lot of money, and you still don't have the variety of sounds you have using GarageBand and GiO with a Mac. Also let's not forget about a room that is treated for recording... This can get really expensive. Not to mention, what if you want to record late at night, not many neighbors are cool with an amp at recording level.
@1999nathanule Our website has a complete list of Apogee dealers. You can also contact our sales team and they can tell you where an Apogee dealer in your area is. 310-584-9394
@Liamguitargeek GiO is $395. With that you get pro quality Apogee conversion, control over amps and effects, and transport control for hands free recording in GarageBand, Logic, and MainStage.
The song in the video was recorded completely in GarageBand using only the amps and built in effects, we think it sounds really good!
@unlikeanyotherhuman well yes, buy an apogee one interface plug in your mic and you can get a great tone recording through that. sadly its mac only :/
I bought a gio a few months ago. Used it on stage and for home recordings, idk what happened to it. It skips amps, the middle pedal won't switch and the record button won't work. Expected more for $400

Does anybody use this thing for live use? I have heard that it does not do well into a PA without a DI Box.

Just to clear something up:
I love my mac and garageband 11', but the effects on there are NOT realistic sounding in any way.
Some of the pedals are pretty cool, but ALL the distortion effects suck... they all just sound like some overly-distorted mess.
Plus, this thing that he plugs in to do everything, cost like $500!

@05Fendertele Have you contacted Apogee tech support? It's rare, but possible that you have a faulty unit that needs to be repaired.
