Problem with iPhone 3g 3.1 jailbreak- No Service After Jailbreak

yup same thing. It's ok after the redsnow break. But when I user itunes to do the final restore to get everything back on, it immediately shows no service.

first going to cydia and unstalling ultrasn0w if you installed it. Second i had to rejailbreak the iphone, you need to download redsn0w version 0.9.6b5 (im using a mac, dont know about pc sorry) follow the instruction its a MUST you click install cydia & install ipad baseband, people forgot to check this and sometimes lead to the no servive problem, let it jailbreak be patient, once done, use ultrasn0w, hopefully that would work

Hey i found an iphone and restored it back to the factory settings as they blocked it. I can now use the phone except it has no service.. i dont know what to do as everyone on here only has service problems after Jailbrake... What would i do? plz help ?

i just fixed my iphone. i used blackra1n after restoring it with 3.1.2 in itune, then installed cydia from blackra1n, installed ultrasn0w, reset and its done

My iPhone 3g suddenly stopped working as a phone. It is not reading my sim card anymore and just gives me signal bars. And sometimes just says "no service" or "no sim installed" If anyone can help me, please contact me for a fix. It is running version 3.1 and was unlocked with BlackRa1n. THANKS!

There are two things:

First, Do not use PwnageTool. I tried that months ago, and the jailbreak was fine, but I got a NO SERVICE, because it unlocked my device when jailbreaking.

Second, do not attempt a unlock with ultrasn0w, yellowsn0w, or blacksn0w. I tried ultrasn0w with a 3.1.3 and I got a NO SERVICE and I had to do a complete restore.

@griffin021390 I think you chose the "activate option" in pwnagetool, and I think your baseband is higher, so you have no service. You may want to see this vid here: watch?v=s4FgoQuqm5I See this vid closely and see that I unchecked "Activate option", because my baseband is higher.

Following steps will hopefully get your iphone working. I have iphone 3G 3.1.2 firmware.

First, make sure you have the 3G & Data roaming OFF. Secondly, Install "sn0w" from blackra1n and finally, reboot the iphone. This should work. It did for me!!

@xbox360live247 if you still havnt resolved the problem hold the home button and insert the usb you must hold it before you insert the usb it should then boot the restore i was freakin out cause it was stuck on the apple logo =]

yupp i researched all the people updating to blacrain for 3.1.2 firmware are having problem. Well wat did u guys expect if the software jailbreaks ur iphone in like 10 mins....it deff means theres no time put into it. The only solution i have for u guys is to downgrade to 3.1 until a better jailbreak is outt! =]

LOL, that's true. I had 3.01 with no freaking problems. For no damn reason I upgraded to 3.1.2 and having all these problems. No service randomly comes up, calls failing. Now no service.
