Congress's majority was democratic though for most of Bush's two terms. So even if they couldn't vote down a veto, they could make it impossible for Bush to get anything done by stalling, lobbying, etc: which they did. Yeah, no mention of Berg orders in today's Miscellaneous Orders, so guess we have to wait 'til Monday for orders. Also, Chief Justice Roberts distributed the Lightfoot case for Conference Jan 23.
The 16th is about the injunction, but today's Conference was about the writ of cert, and we will hear the orders on that on Monday. Conferences are on Fridays and only some miscellaneous orders are given on the same day, normally orders are the next Monday. I can think of positive reasons to wait 'til Monday, but we shall see. And once again, if the case has merit, it will be heard. If it does not, it will be reject once again. See, there's no limit upper limit on how many lawsuits can be filed on this issue. But whether one has to say "no" once or one thousand times, if you can't prove your case the answer won't change.

Congress's majority was democratic though for most of Bush's two terms. So even if they couldn't vote down a veto, they could make it impossible for Bush to get anything done by stalling, lobbying, etc: which they did. Also, the US has had a National Debt of more than $5 million since 1790. There is no truth when you say Clinton left with a surplus. A bugdet surplus doesn't isn't a true surplus when the country has a national debt.

The 16th is about the injunction, but today's Conference was about the writ of cert, and we will hear the orders on that on Monday. Conferences are on Fridays and only some miscellaneous orders are given on the same day, normally orders are the next Monday. I can think of positive reasons to wait 'til Monday, but we shall see. Also, I can think of positive reasons that SCOTUS might have had for the Jan 16 date as well (waiting for Obama to have votes counted for Pres, didn't occur until Jan 8)

There's also the distinct possibility that the definitions they are trying to apply to Natural Born citizen are simply wrong. Well, no, you didn't. But you are reacting to the situation with outrage. Its a reaction I would personally feel only after one of these lawsuits is proven in front of a judge. So far, none of them have even held up in court. The thing is, anyone who wants to can file a lawsuit. They can claim anything they want when they file. Proving the case has merit is something else entirely.

There's no doubt some people espousing these theories who are racist. I've talked to them myself on this site. Other people might not want him in office because of his politics. Others might believe the charges themselves. Even to them, I don't think they're looking at the facts level-headedly. What I hear is almost entirely hearsay, and occasionally mangled understanding of the law.

And once again, if the case has merit, it will be heard. If it does not, it will be reject once again. See, there's no limit upper limit on how many lawsuits can be filed on this issue. But whether one has to say "no" once or one thousand times, if you can't prove your case the answer won't change.

I've heard nothing so far to indicate to me that I am wrong. What I'm saying is, if someone does produce solid evidence to hold up in court, then I will share your outrage. But first it has to be proven, and so far these claims don't come close.
