Yeah, it's called "birth control" but it serves other purposes, too, for women's health.
It sucks when you have anemia and are put on birth control to control bleeding, but can't afford the pack every month. I couldn't afford my packs ($180!), I'm a full time student, but thanks to planned parenthood, I can. It isn't just about sex, people, it's about reproductive health for all, and being able to afford to take care of your body.
Tawanda - It's all about 'choices." I'm glad you've been able to choose having a family. I would like all women to have a choice as to the timing of their families.
Oh yeah, because we all know how well Abstinence-Only Education has worked for everyone. *sarcasm* And last I checked, states with the highest rates of teen pregnancy and STDs are primarily RED states... funny, considering that most of the people in the misogynistic "keep your legs closed, skanks" brigade are conservatards/Republitards themselves, hypocrisy much? Maybe you should take your own advice for a change, try it!
There has been some type of birth control since the beginning of time, and we imperfect humans, for the most part, have sought it out. Low income people deserve basic health care, like birth control, here in the richest country in the world.
Abortions are some of the least expensive procedures in the US, starting at about $350-700. The providers of these services hardly profit, and they have to worry about idiots who might what to kill them for a concept.
Thank goodness that this bill has finally passed! On a more personal level, I am THAT woman. I am in college and currently have a low income. I should not have to choose between food and my reproductive contrception. Personally, I can not take oral contraceptives, so my choice is very limited. My preferred method cost an arm and leg, especially coming from my pocketbook. I am disheartened by the last person's post....Birth control IS TOO a necessity of life. Shame on him/her.
I am a young women, and this issue has been affecting me whether i would be able to afford birth control or not and i think we all should be able to it is an issue and am pleased to know people have spoken and we are being heard! this is wonderful!!!!!
Tho I'm past child-bearing age, my 16 year old granddaughter isn't. When she and her boyfriend began getting cozier and cozier, her single parent dad made sure she went to Planned Parenthood ASAP. She can afford her prescriptions but thousands of other girls and women can't. Every child deserves to be a wanted child. Planned Parenthood is making this posible.
There are too many people on this planet, six maybe seven billion human beings. We are so numerous that we can see vivid examples that there are too many, whether it is irreversible addition of greenhouse gases, the diminishing supply of fresh water, or just too much sewage in too many neighborhoods. When we get the world population down to a sustainbable level (probably less than a billion) we can see about increasing the population again.
In countries where women can control the number of children they can afford, everyone in the country profits. I'm so glad this bill passed. Finally, an administration who is responsible to the people and not to religious nut cases and dogma.
Yay!! Congress restored affordable birth control!! In an age of global warming and over-population when it is more important than ever for women and parents to be able to pursue their careers and/or responsibly raise children with the family support and funds necessary for a fulfilling life, this legislation is more important than ever. Birth control should be free worldwide in my opinion, our planet and hope for a peaceful healthy humanity will be doomed without it.
Without birth control, a woman becomes a slave, an indentured servant. Starting a family is such a time-consuming and expensive undertaking that we only want to have a child when we are truly ready. Affordable, reliable birth control is absolutely necessary in this day and age of job loss and economic hardship.
I have never been on birth control, and I am certainly not an indentured servant or slave! What a negative attitude you have! Having a family is time-consuming, but I have done the "career" thing and can tell you that having a family is more rewarding than any job I have ever had.
Thank you for creating this video! My teenage sister needs birth control for medical reasons (severe/disabling menstrual pain). Endometriosis alone, a cause of severe menstrual pain and infertility, occurs in over 5% of women! This is not a matter to be taken lightly. Let the doctors/experts do their job and keep politics out of it - that includes supporting a reduced cost so this treatment can be accessible to women in need, whether for pain or contraception uses.
Yes I totally agree, I mean it should be FREE for all women. It would mean the difference between paying a electric bill or 60 dollar BC's....They shouldnt have that problem.
Someone has to pay for "free" birth control - exactly who should pay? Should people who are morally opposed to birth control have to pay? I require prescription meds just to stay alive, and I have to pay for them myself. I don't see why birth control should be any different, especially when sex is optional.
tawanda: You make an excellent point! I agree for the most part, but then again, I would rather see my tax dolars go to helping you or for free meds than go to pay for abortions for Non American nationals in other Countries.
You people are ridiculous. Birth control isn't all about sex. There are many reasons people use birth control other than preventing pregnancy.

Affordable birth control is something we need. It'll benefit everyone, and help raise our standards of living.

Uhhh, but abstinence is free and also there's no risk of stds. But if you want aids, that's ok too.

Hey, if you want to save on birth control, how about doing it for free using self control?
