  • "The Ding a Ling is a little toy that Dave Bartholomew said a grandmother gave to her grandson when he was a young boy in New Orleans. It is a set of silver bells hanging on a string. She told the lad that the bells were his ‘Ding a Ling'."

  • do you realize what its referring to? MASTURBATING! my ding a ling? they meant to say MY DICK but couldnt get away with it.

  • To heck with Chuck Berry!!!

This was as bold as anything allowed in it's day.

This is clever. Chuck's version was just vulgar and unoriginal!!!.

  • @colclizbe This version is fine, but the version by Dave Bartholomew is better. I prefer it to be sung slower. Not that you said it, but this is one in a LONG line of double-entendre songs, i.e. "Long John Blues" by Dinah Washington, "I Like to Eat" by the Sweet Violet Boys (Prarie Ramblers). As for Berry's version, I don't think it is lewder than Barthlomew's.

  • whats wrong with this? the elchords would respond with peppermint stick will you eat my...

and listen to current songs about what goes on at the club.

  • Very cool :-)

  • Tempo and melody Thumbs up and worth a fave!

    Inuendo, not so much

  • Too cute. Has none of the fun and innuendo that Chuck Berry brought to the record.
