reliable 7k rpm? theres a few reasons why diesels last alot longer and one is because they dont spin that fast, therefor less engine wear.
example: average 200k gasser that spins at 3000-3500rpm down the hwy vs. a 200k diesel that spins only 1500 to 2000rpm at hwy speeds. just something to think about.
Thank god Gale Banks isn't working in politics, he has no idea how economy or anything on that level works. "if we buy oil from the middle east, we're sending money to people who want to kill us" wow!
if you watch close, on a few dips in the mud the front tires went way out of alignment, i bet that front end went through a few tierods making that video. but the GM trucks use tierods that are smaller than most compact cars so thats to be expected.
true but theres only so far you can go with a DPF still on the truck. If you ever want to make some power or get really good mileage, the DPF has to go.
And thats not true. Most of the people bulding up diesels (for drag racing anyways) are going for low smoke runs. If you're making big power, its gonna smoke, no way around it, but once the turbos spool, you want it to clean up.
Dear Gale Banks, your parts are overpriced. Your tuning devices aren't bad, but as far as Cummins go, Smarty will kick your butt any day of the week. For Dmax's, EFI Live or PPE will rock Bank's world.
To prove my point, go to any diesel racing event, or pulling event, and tell me how many Banks products you see. Very little.
Not a Duramax fan ok then read about his ISB 24V 5.9L Cummings.
OR if your thinking LOL I hate Duramax and Cummings I’m a power stroke fan each to there own however Gale banks has not built a power stroke engine yet.
I love the comments that basically just shit on MR. Gale Banks. Its very obvious you don’t actually take the time and research what his team has already done. Here’s a example The Banks Sidewinder S-10 Duramax Diesel drag truck 7.60 E.T. range. The built, balanced and blueprinted LMM 6.6L (403-ci) Duramax V8 puts out an estimated 1,300 horsepower and twists out more than 1,300 lb.-ft. torque. Configured as it is right now, the Duramax 6.6L turns 5,500 rpm at full throttle.
@EasternAggie and twists out more than 1,300 lb.-ft. torque. I don’t know the exact number since banks dose not say how much. I just copied this right from their website. But I hear you a want to see at least 2000+ LB-FT at the wheels
That truck is a pathetic plaything. Give me a real diesel truck like the old dodge with 5.9 cummins or almost any other inline six. Lets go hitch to hitch and it'll rip this one to shreds.
they dont call him the diesel guru cause he doesnt know anything about diesels thats for sure. im a fan of banks, yeah they dont market all the after market parts needed to build a super truck, but they do make the parts nessecary to get you one step closer to that super truck. ill buy banks all day long
you can't turn 7000 rpm reliably in a diesel.....maybe maybe maybe with a little 2 or 3 liter with insanely high injection pressures. i'm not a fan of banks. efi live kicks banks ass as far as tunes go.
Great, Gale Banks thinks he's a expert on internations energy matters. First the US gets the majority of it's oil from Canada! Second you can outfit all the diesel engines in the us to use biodiesel and it would make a difference because there is no where near enough to go around, the biodiesel market has no potential out grow regular diesel. Energy independence is impossible for the united states. We consume more than what we have.
Uhh, maybe because of the fuel saved or, because diesels put out less greenhouse gases than that damn weedkiller that passes for fuel. Then, there's also bio-diesel, the list of reasons is endless.
In France 70 percent of the cars are Diesel and they are more and more efficient.
Look at the new Volvo Diesel engine : 1.8 bar boost and biturbo . twenty years ago that was only a monster gas race car that could be tuned like this !
Ok 7000 rpm are to much maybe but it's a raceman this Banks !
Dude, I cant believe I'm sticking up for diesels, but hes right. For car applications, higher rpms and more power with an aluminum block? that would be awesome! Hes right man. Banks is the sht.

when I see a diesel running over 1000hp, I want to see torque off the chart

Less torque, more HP, and more RPM's. Why? That defeats the purpose of a diesel. If you want that, play with a gas burner. Banks is a moron.

try to think different.
you know Diesel for it's "original "purpose torque(for big engines) slow, smoky and low revs.
But they were not made for this purpose :
they were made to run with coal and vegetables oils (the things that we re-discover hahaha !).
IIt was for Rudolph Diesel a way to help the local workers and not let the industry kill them.
it was a "social" invention !
So now we try to make this engine more powerful because we discover it's potential again.
