The bass player is one of the baddest players on the planet. look him up and see what he has done. Angus Thomas. BAD M.F. on bass. does anyony have anything from his all Bass band ANGUS? Please post if you do. Anyone rember them at Hanger 9 in Carbondale,Ill? Stories?
First wave is a step down compared to first wave in my opinion, more repeats and they don't get as alternative as fred would. This song is a step in a better direction, but it won't change anyway.
There are so many more songs they could play. It's too bad.
i was stationed at chanute afb in rantoul, illinois in 1983. combo audio played in champaign-urbana. i was amazed by their voices and ability to influence the room. brings back great memories. thanks for all the entertainment you provided.
How cool to hear my preferred version of this classic! Thanks for exposing other people to it. The video is really clever (love the effects) and even though I'm probably old enough to be Alex's mom, I still think he looks hot!
To clarify this video was made by my friend for an intro multimedia art class and I posted it on youtube before he got the chance, now it has more views than his other videos hahaha.
I have and remember the original song. I would argue the performance is as good if not better than the original. The video is ok, but if a director got ahold of this you could really fly. Good job!
It was released as an EP, I believe, in the early/mid 80s. I may have it. If so, I can perhaps copy it because I do not think an album version is available anymore. Saw them at Mabels in Champaign.
i believe it was 1984; also saw them at mabels in champaign. i was stationed at chanute afb, and took classes part time at champaign! still have the tape. how do i get it on cd?
I had the original on one of my playlists, a pity that the original videos are deleted and now we have to watch parodies to listen to this wonderful song.
Yeah that is also one of my favorite songs. I used to go see them ALL THE TIME at Mabel's in Champaign and this little hole in the wall in Urbana. They should have seen more mainstream success with it. Man, seeing that made my day. Now I need to get some AquaNet and bring on the big hair!
Great song and the video is pretty nice too! I live in Champaign(well, Urbana) and I see one of the guy's from Combo Audio occasionally hosting Kareoke at clubs.
It is hypnotic, isn't it. I was going to UIUC in '81 and saw these guys live several times. Thanks for posting this: I have the 7" (but it doesn't fit into my cd player. Version 2 just doesn't cut it.

Very rarely does this song get air play on Sirius/XM, I'd of thought this song would of been huge in the 80s!
