I danced with Lindy Layton in the basement at the Smithfield Tavern in Farringdon, London, the night a little known DJ called Fatboy Slim played in August 1997. Fact :D This was the song I actually asked Norman to play before he was on. He didn't have it, but he began his set with his remix of Elegantly Wasted by INXS and ended it with Cream by Prince. Awesome night, especially having my shoes searched for ecstasy pills all because I was standing in the corner counting my money...
YESS!! Amazing to see that in an age where super talented people come together to form bands and struggle to survive, one man like this can make magic!
great song but what is the name of the oldskool song that had the piano melody and the sample from let there be house? (I got the song on a mix but cant find the original) ;)
What does it matter this song wasnt on the greatest hits CD. You shoudnt buy a greatest hits CD of Fatboy Slim, because all his stuff is great. So you should get all the albums!! :D :D :D
@Ellunino I think fatboy borrowed the main piano tune from Barrington Levy & Rebel MC - Under Me Sensi.....kicks in around :40 or something like that..listen close....the beat is very similar too...
i havent heard this for over 15 years and all i can say is i m sooo lucky to have heard it back then...and now....perfect memories xxxx love and light xxxxxxxxxxxx
Yes, that is the same riff, but the song you mentioned actually sampled it from another song called "Better Days" by Jimi Polo and Fatboy Slim sampled it from that version as did Congress. Those are both amazing songs as well as "Song for Lindy". Be sure to check out "Better Days" and the Sasha Remix of "Better Days" both from 1989!!
1)fatboyslim is one of the few artist i like every song from
2)there´s a nice remake of this song from the band "lo-fi-fnk" from sweden i think i don´t know if it´s a officiel remake or if they just used the synth-line because they liked it ...but it´s a nice song
3)piano-part from insomnia? i don´t want to fight, but i have to disagree ..(the same rhytmic pattern that´s right and i ´never realized before comparing. but the chords are different ..but insomnia is a killer song too ;)
@Ellunino wrong, I'm pretty sure the sample is originally from Jimi Polo- Better Days, the riff has also been sampled in Pianoman-Blurred and Congress- 40 miles and many other old skool tunes.
All those tunes are on youtube if you want to listen for yourself
anybody knows, where the guitar originaly comes from? on czech republic's best radio-Radio 1-they told it, but I forgot to write it and now I don't know even
prefer insomnia ;)

The slide guitar riff (that starts at 0:48) is from Ellen McIlwaine's cover of 'Higher Ground', originally by Stevie Wonder.
