  • oh god is this as bad strange journey with the crawling >.<?

  • Wasn't there a girl trapped under that thing a moment beforfe the boss-ish fight?

  • Persona games.

they tend to find J-Pop songs i don't hate.

  • I don't know much about the persona games. But this is a justified remake given how rare the original game is XD and expensive to boot.

  • Wait...

    Wasn't Mark, y'know, black?

  • @Hawelo92 It's just your imagination. That was an edit done by ATLUS' North American office for localization purposes. Dumbest thing I've ever seen somebody do, besides trying to convince us that it was set in America.

  • dear lord what a crappy combat song XD game looks good tho

  • I love how the protagonist shouted "PERSONA!"

  • Did anyone else find the item "QQ Helmet" hilarious?

  • You know, if they completely re-did the game and made the gameplay similar to P4 and P3, this remake would've been amazing... You can already tell the music is amazing, why not make everything amazing? :3

  • i never saw a hospital with a dead end before.........

  • This looks like the worst rpg ever so glad persona got better later on

  • @24kurokami You haven't even played it you turbo douche.

  • Wow, this look SOOOO much better than the PS1 version

  • Anyone know where I can go to download the battle music?

  • @Demiath Great points & might I say...this is the way to respond to a comment. Much respect to you, Mr. Demiath.

  • @MrIvalice The Persona/SMT distinction is valid, but doesn't contradict what I was saying. With Persona 3 and 4, Atlus focused less on complex gameplay mechanics and instead emphasized story, dialogue and conventional JRPG characters - and this was clearly made in order to appeal to a wider audience. As you rightly point out, however, the developer has simultaneously continued to release games like Strange Journey (unofficially called "SMT 4") which retain all the classic Megaten mechanics.

  • @Demiath @dagger1087 it's because it was intentional...in fact, in the original japanese releases of Persona 3 & Persona 4...they don't have the Shin Magami Tensei Preface.

  • @Demiath @dagger1087 because it was intentional. &...imo...4 took what 3 did & took it to an entirely different level. Persona 3 was as dark in atmosphere as it's predecessors & the fact that 4 was at times so superficially poppy, bright & colorful on the surface even though the plotline involved some dark & not usually touched on stuff...It was almost like a beautiful metaphor...but I digress....

  • the battle song is kinda my type

  • @Demiath Oh, okay. So, once you recruit them, they act like personas did in 3 and 4. That's interesting. I'm sure I'll end up playing this someday... maybe if they release the PSP version of P2 in English, I'll get them so that I have the set. It seems quite different from 3 and 4, so I've been apprehensive. Thanks for the explanations.

  • @BluntmanEXE The PSone version of this game is much better than this remake for people who love Persona 3 and 4 and JPOP.

  • This is how Persona for the Playstation one was supposed to be. This is the

    original version.

  • Is there any voice acting in the game??

  • GAY ! he was just walking around the hospital and BAM! a fight scene out of know where, retarded

  • That battle song was GAY ASS... Can you change it???

  • OH HO HO HO

Trust me. Persona 1 was amazingly good.

Sure the dungeon grinding and battles get very (and let me just emphatize) VERY repetitive, but the story is awesome. Never ever doubt a SMT game, specially the Persona series. If you do, you have no right to call yourself a fan. This is JRPG Dungeoning at it's very best. You either like it or dont. And if you dont, then you're missing out on a lot.

  • i loved persona 3 so i tried my best to play this but damn it was so boring i couldnt stand another second of it

  • i agree with most ppl below, it looks pretty boring, doesn't look very interesting. sorry.

  • this game looks incredibly boring

  • sorry but is there a reason to enter the ruins in the game??

I only have gotten to the mana castle

  • why are there so many meaningless dead ends in a hospital

  • Damn, the action menu is more understandable. Big time.

  • apart from the characters looking like lego men when youre not moving around in first person, this game looks fun.

  • this is what started persona 3 and 4? cool game! im so downloading. but u can obviously see the difference from this game and p3 and p4 now

  • I tried this game on the PSOne, and I HATED it. The characters were douchebags, and the interface was a MESS. This remake doesn't look that much better, except for the kick-ass music.

But I guess I can't be TOO hard on the game, since it did lay the groundwork for its awesome sequels.

  • quite francally this shouldnt even considered a remake i mean come on is basically the same graphics just more refined

  • Holy fuck. I NEED this game now.

  • Hmm. This looks interesting. I'm afraid that the hardcore dungeon crawling + random encounters might put me off, though.

  • is this persona 1?

  • @MrJamesPaulme It's the PSP remake of the original PS1 Persona game, yes.

  • Its just me , or this song starts with a sample with the original persona (for psx) battle theme?

  • 7:22

  • worst psp game

  • OMG THE BATTLE THEME !!!

  • How was thsi popular? it looks awful and I see nothing that catches me...what aspacts of thsi game make it so fun and entertaining?

  • @PSNXxBarretxX Neither Persona 3 or 4 are very challenging, but Persona 3 can become tricky because of the lack of manual control of party members (i.e. the AI can screw you over for no fault of your own). Also, the P3 final boss is potentially one of the most frustrating experiences you can have in a modern RPG...

  • i love persona games but this game wus guud but the gameplay bad they should have remade persona 2

  • @PSNXxBarretxX It depends (there are multiple paths through the game, one of them including a super-hardcore secret dungeon), but I'd say Persona 1 is probably harder than Persona 4 in general. P4 was pretty easy, even compared to Persona 3...

  • @Demiath basically saying as the series progressed, the difficulty was toned down lol, i think so.

  • @tallpinoyman Well, it's never quite that simple. For example, the main difference in difficulty between Persona 3 and Persona 4 is a result of the latter game's manual party control feature...which in and of itself is quite simply better game design in general and improved "frustration management" in particular.

  • I like the look of this game, even though I started off on the Persona 3/4 set of games. The only thing that bothers me though was the battle theme. I've listened to the original version and the PSX version sounded so much better. I could quite easily get used to the dungeon crawling interface (It reminds me of a simplistic version of P4's and sorta those old dungeon crawling games)

And the battle system, since I've played Persona 2 recently I could quite easily get used to it.

  • This is practically what they should have gave us years ago. Agree?

  • this looks just the like the first one with slightly better graphics....ugh

  • Yes that's generally what a port is

  • that sucks........what a waste of graphics

the should have main it better instead

  • thats not really necessary, the smt games have never been known for their graphics. its about the gameplay.

  • this is very true but the gameplay is terrible

they should have made a remake of Persona 2 instead with the different version as well....that would have when better

  • Well, the one doesn't necessarily exclude the other. Particularly if enough people buy the Persona 1 remake, Persona 2 for the PSP will become that much more likely...

  • The gameplay doesn't differ too much from persona 2 actually. Either way we don't need a persona 2 port to the PSP because PSP can already emulate PS1 games and the original release(and fan translation) of Persona 2 are both fine as is

  • It's true that Persona 2 hardly needs fixing in the same way as Persona 1 did. Still, I would totally pay for a PSP version of the second game with, say, higher resolution 3D graphics, a better interface and faster battles. Also, as good as the PSOne support on PSP can often get it's still not quite as stable and reliable as something designed from the ground up for the handheld system.

  • its odd, they make a port of the 1st one and then they make a PSP version of P3, what about 2?

2 was honestly my favorite, but at least the P3 PSP version has a girl to choose as the MC now...

  • Does this game have annoying puzzles like Nocturne?

  • So far (after about 25 hours) the only "puzzles" I've seen are maze structured dungeons where you need to figure out how to reach the exit.

  • But no teleports or traps?

    I hated those things

  • There are trapped chests which deal damage (no big deal) and a few dungeons also have trap doors through which you fall down to a lower level (once they've been triggered once they are marked on the map). More often than not, you're supposed to use the trap doors to get to the end of the dungeon but on rare occasions they take you all the way back to the entrance.

  • @haohmaru12

    Actually, it's the best. you're just a douche. =3

  • @haohmaru12

    Fuck you! Donutz are awesome!

  • LOL, your angry. Bitch all you want. I like this game. =)

  • @haohmaru12 Then what RU doin here? afterall everyone has the right to play anything he/she want... and make a video share of it... dont you think? (yea i can see already your answer: "STFU" but i dont expect more from you...) you know there was a time when tha games not was all about violence, just for fun... you should know...

  • @BonkuriTokio112 and you're just an obnoxious weeaboo.

  • I'm still waiting for this to arrive in the post. Can you kill that J-Pop in the battles?

Supposedly this is the version to go over the original english PS1 release, as this one hasn't been butchered. Although when people talk about Mark being white, is that because he was originally white or was he changed in the original PS1 english port?

I appreciate it's a taste thing, but I have to re-iterate; that battle music is painful.

  • I haven't checked but I don't think there's a way to turn off the J-Pop, so hopefully you'll learn to live with it. But yes, this is the definite version of the game; apart from a new localization you also get an improved interface, tweaked difficulty and the previously omitted Snow Queen subquest.

As for Mark, he was white in the original Japanese version but the English "localization" of 1996 changed him to a black guy. So in this version he's back to his original Japanese self again...

  • awesome music!

  • Not my style, personally.

  • Notice how Mark is a White guy in this one.

  • Apparently that can be really confusing for some. I had a commentator on a previous Persona video who asked why Mark wasn't in the game any longer... ;)

  • I'm playing Persona 2 Innocent Sin.

Yuki is as hot as ever.

  • The way the random encounters work is just so hilarious. The music is a complete joke, and the character voices are dumber than the ones on the dubbed pokemon cartoons. All that aside this game looks pretty nice. When does the satanic/divine aspect of the series show up?
