in portal 1, she had a protection face plate on her, and she had a motion stablelizer so she could not move. in the explosion, they fall off, u can find them some where in portal 2 when you go through "her chamber". the cores were in a project to be upgraded b4 glados went evil. once the new v2 core base was made all the old cores minds were put into v2 cores. (i.e the ones that look like wheatly, and not the old ugly boss battle ones) you can see an old core in the tanks before u fight wheatly

GLaDOS was destroyed in PT1. So, in PT2, GLaDOS looks like that because she was hurt in PT1...And I've noticed she's gained a couple things like: Mobility, feeling, and a less maniac-like mind. Now that those cores aren't driving her insane.

@IceGod64 I recommend using the console to noclip into her chamber in portal 2 without going through her trap, is disables the cut scene and GLaDOS will just sit there in the room, unmoving, so you can get a good look at her from all angles.

In the way you put it, Portal2 was better cinematically than Portal, but the MP lacked replayability, the SP was also restricted to the story, unlike Portal the sequel doesn't have challenge maps (yet). I also liked the complexity+openess to altern8 solutions of the puzzles of Portal where the sequel's puzzles were more str8forward.

Sure Portl2 was awesome but it doesn't cover everything Portal had.
