@randyclar747 RDX makes a good initiator. A tri-plex cap of aluminum flash powder; HMTD, and RDX works well. You don't need much conc. nitirc acid to make enough RDX for a cap. This looks so much like Axtran's work. I miss his videos!

@mormanman13 Several books that every powderhead should get from Amazon include "The Chemistry of Powder & Explosives" (Tenny Davis); "Preparatory Manual of Explosives (Jared Ledgard), "Explosives" by Josef Kohler and Rudolf Meyer, and "Explosives Engineering" by Paul Cooper. RDX and all the popular HE's are fully described, including cookbook preparation. Just be careful and don't ever scale up lab sample recipes, as heat of formation will raise temperatures faster than you can cool them.
@waskaman94 Ebay usually has several guys dividing barrels of nitromethane into smaller quantities and shipping them postal....like buying Lugers by mail order in '66!
nice video. that's a pretty wacky composition being ammonium nitrate is an oxidizer, nitromethane is explosive, flammable and oxidizing, then then aluminum powder is strongly reducing.

@buckwheatrules I put my KMNO4 "free flowing powder" (actually tiny prills) in a coffee grinder with no problems, so a ball mill should be fine, but slower.
