  • Why is this in the 'funny' section of Channel 4's website?

  • wow! amazinggg!

  • I am from Malaysia and I understood them perfectly

  • Fascinating indeed...

  • I'm going to write up for Americans:

    From the start

"What?" "What's your Apology" "I haven't god one" "Why haven't you got an apology?" "I dunno, have you got an apology?" "I have many apologies" "Go on, bust one out" "I'm really really sorry I didn't finish my RS courwork on time; that was a bit mean of me. - Have you got an apology?" "I'm sorry for lying to my boss, sayin that I had a car crash 'cause I was 20 minutes late, I didn't tell you about that did I? "Ohh God, that's the end of our ap

  • lol @ American's whom can't understand it.

  • I realy, Realy, love this video. The emotion, and amount or real, sun-dried, not preservatives PEOPLE in this video is incredible. One of my all time favourites on an amazing channel.

  • some of these lines are shocking!

  • she's a small potato? and where was welsh!!!!

  • she cheated on her boyfriend and dont give a fuck............. SLUT!!!!

  • Love it!!!!!!

  • @Kelty0656

I agree with you completely. It's frustrating when a potentially brilliant project becomes so much less as a result of an obvious oversight. Subtitles definitely should have been added during production/editing.

  • I guess people who are not familiar with the various British dialects would need subtitles. When I first came to this country I found the jordie and scottish accents just impossible to decipher. Its better now! :)

  • lol at 6:05 "Yoo foking bastard yoo!" ;)

  • "the IQ of a Toffee Apple" !! Haaa made me laugh!

  • ENGLISH IS NOT EVEN MY NATIVE TONGUE AND I UNERSTOOD EVERYTHING PERFECTLY, ARE YOU DEAF?

  • am i the only person that understood what they were saying?

  • some of these people are selfish cowards. apologizing to no one. just to make themselves feel better. good film though.

  • @Mike28115 I think coming out and accepting publicly what they had done is a good first step! I think it makes a huge difference in most of these people's lives to be able to apologize to someone!

  • @beaterfred how is this public? nobody knows who they are. and they are apologizing to no one, no one is there.

  • @Mike28115 I meant it is a healing step for the people who are actually apologizing. It doesn't matter that we don't know who they are, they are acknowledging what they have done and are coming out. It doesn't in any way make things better for those who have been wronged by them, but I was just saying that its a way to get things off their chests and start healing from whatever guilt they are carrying! :)

  • ccbnbn

  • the truth is ... with all the choices in this channel ... nobodies gonna waste time trying to decipher what they are on about ... so subtitle the damn thing

  • this does need subtitles. not because their accent its because YOU CANT FUCKING HEAR WHAT THEY ARE SAYING

  • No it does NOT need subtitles.

  • i'm sorry for thinking i'm sorry

  • I'm sorry about insulting my friend... I didn't know that I was insulting him, I was just joking around, I'm sorry.

  • dyspraxic women made me laugh, sounds like my auntie

  • I love this. So human.

  • i feel so sorry for that woman with dyspraxia

  • this is kinda sad :-( good job tho

  • I saw this film on the big screen and you could hear everything fine. I think it must just be the quailty of this file. Still really nice work :)

  • Ok so hes gunna take over us white peoples land..theres more of us than there is of him just one man hehe silly beggar!!

  • are you autistic or something? think it from the different perspective, maybe her boyfriends a nob?

  • What does that have to do with autism? it's about being a shitty person. If her boyfriend is lame, break it off. Don't fuck around. Poor behvaiour isn't excusable in any way.

  • One more quick thing. I can't stand the bitch that laughs about cheating on her boyfriend.

  • i loved it. guilt IS the ultimate burden.

Agreed that this DOES need subtitles...

  • hey its our language, u guys fucked it up

  • You mean we stopped slurring and sounding perpetually drunk? Right, sorry about that....

  • this really need subtitles...seriously...

  • Guilt is the worst feeling ever. No doubt about it.

  • ha ha "thank you!" what a polite Psycho :)

  • I recently heared somebody say that the smaller problems in life are the most interesting, this film capitalizes on that tremendously.. 5* & Sub

  • Invasion of privacy is an issue that really gets under State Rep. Babette Josephs skin.

Thats why the Philadelphia Democrat introduced a bill, passed unanimously last week by the House, that would ban the forced implantation of computer chips in humans.

Conjuring Orwellian images, Josephs worries the identification devices - the size of a grain of rice - could lead to a real-life Big Brother nightmare

  • Very very moving. So simple, yet effective. Great idea. Well done!

  • wow!

    these are amazing.

  • was this real??? i mean these people are no ctors or??

  • Need Some subtitles !

  • @pachicat; that was disgusting but its ironic; the guy said 'thank you'

  • i donno what to say!

  • Freaking amazing. Saw this at SilverDocs this past year in the industry screening room. Watched it 4 times. The saturated visuals really enhance the common human thread of guilt, helplessness and isolation of, well, the human condition. Such individual pain somehow made utterly, painfully accessible. Still talk about it...alot.

  • Great visuals, but what a miserable looking city. Seems like a pretty sorry place.

  • lol @ "I'm sorry for calling this f***ing number"!

  • The man who called saying he was going to "take over the country" scared the crap out of me.. its shocking that somebody would want to do such horrible things to people just because of the colour of their skin, or their beliefs - its disgusting

  • IQ of a toffee apple. LMFAO

  • Reminds me of Post Secrets.

  • wow

  • awesome cinematography, seriously awesome.

i love the cityscape, especially at night.

  • i saw this at sundance. awesome.

  • nice.

  • awesome mini movie

  • GuitarGunner - =)) u are such a DUMBASS =))

    PS-nice viD :P

  • Too late, mf. She died in 1985. Any other threats?

  • Good lord. Don't kick yourself, S. There's tons of people who'll do it for you. Chin up.

  • 6:05 made this video hilarious.

I have a question though: did these people know that there was a chance their apology would be made into a YouTube video that anyone can watch?

  • I've called the apology line, and it says before you leave your apology that it will be recorded and possibly used in 'an art project.'

  • Especially since the knucklehead is using the effin white bastard's language. Half-life of not getting the point, eh. :D

  • that makes me sad... its amazing really. :)

  • fantastic.

  • Beautiful....

  • Of course it sucks. Why would a moron ever think anything intelligent is good. An moron would think stupid things are good. This is not stupid, that's why you think it sucks fartsquared.

  • wtf was that last one - confessions of Brian McFadden?

  • This is fantastic. I really enjoyed - I have no problem understanding the accents, by the way and I'm from CA - subtitles would ruin this piece, I feel. I would call an anonymous apology line - I have a few things to get off my chest. Things I would not tell another living soul who knew me, so this is a good idea, and the short film is even better. Thanks for posting this.

  • That Irish man....badass

  • @Theguyunderyourbed Sorry for bein a complete sad act and replying to your comment from 3 years ago but I think the bloke you're referring to is Scottish, sounds Glaswegian.

  • yeah hello, i like to call to say, i not feel guilty that we going to rape and kill white bastard this country kill you all, you white motherfuckers, you all die we take over your country fucking hood fucking white bastard why. thank you.

  • Erm, you're a white teenage boy - how's that working with your comment, there, dude???

  • directed at TRICKFACE, below. Oops!

  • I APOLOGIZE TO YOU, Trickface, I was so presumptuous to not watch the movie straight through before I bashed you a little for this comment. Didn't realize you were quoting. My heart sank when I heard that one - I'm sorry, man. On the bright side, you have a mac! :)

  • hahahaha :) no problem. I thought that call was particularly hilarious.

  • Great idea. How can i listen to the New York one too?

LOVE the accents and understood every word coz im british. These different accents enrich our language and our culture and are part of our history and identity. Love 'em, proud of 'em. Ey by gum they're triffic.

  • I agree with the person who said this video needs subtitles...I'm not quite sure whether with subs what was being said would have the same sort of effect it had on me when I was listening to them. The technique used with the video and audio being parallel already sort of...emphasises your need to engage with the audio part of it so subs would just be distracting.

  • Also it's more shocking to hear when it's coming out of someone's mouth so that's something that would be missed out on with subtitles. Still, I couldn't quite catch some of the words and phrases because of the various accents and dialects used, some of which I am not used to.

  • forget the subtitles gimme a translation...

  • Beautiful, fearless, and hunting in equal measure - this is one of the best short independant films I've seen in a long while, brilliant. I really liked the way the vignettes played out, giving some emotional context to the recordings. I was impressed by James Lees direction too.

For the record to those who misheard, the lady who apologises to "the Reverend" is not dyslexic - she is Dyspraxic - which is a physical disorder

  • um... no its not. IT CAN effect your physical co-ordination but it's not considered a physical disorder. It's closer to asperges syndrome. how do I know? my sister has it.

  • I ran out of space, so had to edit my post as my character count was 70 over the limit.

Thanks for the clarifiaction though - those here that thought it was Dyslexia will be appreciative I'm sure ;)

  • i'm not hating on accents, because i speak spanish with a slight accent and my parents speak english with a very thick accent, but this video needs subtitles. almost every caller has a different accent.

  • Ha! This was funny.

  • wow some of these are so uncomfortable to listen to. especially the dyslexic woman's. i was really bothered by hers. i think it was her delivery

  • great video but WHAT ABOUT SUBTITLESSSSSS. english is not even my first langauge....its reaally hard to understand and its not that difficult to add subtitles

  • true that...

it would be great for all to have subtitles for these short films..

hope the guys from futureshorts take this into account

  • very unique. A different kind of film. I was really engaged with some of the story's however it was maybe a trifle long clocking in at 10 minutes

  • awesome super pro!!!

  • the dyslexic girls apology really hit me the most. it was so intense.

  • wow

  • An abomination? There isn't one single, correct accent. They develope naturally alongside dialects, and reflect culture and location. To outsiders they may have an undersirable character, but they don't 'damage' the language. If anything they make it richer, more diverse. I'm assuming you were just joking, and that your statement simply meant you don't like the accent of the people featured in this video, but I thought I'd defend those with accents anyway (especially undesirable ones).

  • This isn't even just British, it some very strong city accent, which makes it even harder to hear (and understand). But never the less, it's quite a nice vid.

  • @Stadtionalist There is no one 'British' accent you mong - they're all equally British. Most of em (about half) sound Brummie (from Birmingham) or at least West-Midlands.

  • you have to listen really hard

  • The accent makes it impossible to understand...

  • i love this -- great work.

  • Original e inquietante. Me gustó mucho

  • Is it just me or is it really hard to understand these people if you're not British?

  • yeah, sometimes I had trouble... but it almost makes it creepier too

  • yeah, same. English isnt my first language which is why I find it really hard to understand people with one of these strong english accents

  • im british for me the answer is no, but i understand what u mean anyway

  • no, i agree. it's really tough for me to understand too.

  • I can't work out if these are actors voices or the original recordings.

  • wow.. that was really good. i like it.. a lot

  • great

  • wow

  • was nice

  • Love it

  • Weird..... but interesting!

    I liked it too

  • i like it =)
