@weightfeather1 As an aussie, I feel somewhat compelled to inform you and the rest of the viewers that down here, "meter maid" has a slightly different context to what the rest of the world would define as one. No relation to the video due to the obvious time span, just a fun little factoid. :)
Arlene is amazing! I have totally fallen in love with this woman and this moment is just fabulous! Her face when the audience starts roaring, great television. And she looks stunning too!
I wish the audience would keep out of the proceedings and just let the panel play the game! The questioning could take some interesting turns if the audience would just exercise some self control and not give the whole thing away.
I think we can excuse the odd spontaneous outburst once in a while. This one was certainly worth the opportunity to watch Arlene gape at the felicity of her offhand remark.
I'm astonished that the cameramen cut to the panel in the split second after Arlene made her guess aloud and before the audience roared its confirmation. That's some quick thinking there!
Ah, Cicero.. the iconic Chicago suburb of political corruption that makes Mayor Daley next door look like an amateur and ex-Gov Blagoyovich a choir boy.
The previous mayor is cooling her heels in an out-of-state country club jail for a few more years while her daughter is being raised by relatives.
You'd think that alone would scare off further misdoings in other suburbs? Not a chance!
cicero's latest anti-hero is betty maltese, now serving 8 for a scheme to rob her fair city of a cool 12 mil. i agree: the audience should have controlled themselves better. finally, it's interesting how what would today be considered sexist back then was par for the course.
You will find in YouTube a clip of What's My Line Robert Q. Lewis . It was the mystery guest clip after this motorcycle cop sequence. Fred Allen here is back on the panel after his appendix surgery.

I can't decide what's better...the crowd's reaction to Arlene's comment, or her reaction to them! ;-)

I can't count the number of times I've seen Arlene nail it on some throwaway remark. She had amazing intuition. And she was so gracious and lovely.

If you listen to the job description, this woman is not a motorcycle cop, she is a meter maid, who uses a motorcycle

Strange terminology here - she considers a 3-wheel vehicle to be a motorcycle.

It's legally a motorcycle in most if not all States.

Wow, that was some reaction from the audience and later from the panel and Arlene. How funny!
Thanks for this!
