I think he just meant that this track shares many of the same characteristics of the kinds of tracks (remixes, retro, early house, tribal etc etc) that have been popular in the gay clubs (which is where many of the trends in dance music, particularly hi-energy and disco, originated) - it was not meant as any reflection on the sexual orientation of the Freemasons!
