Britain owes so much to Vaughan Williams for preseving a part of our heritage that had sadly been neglcted. We already had the poets and authors but he showed us that we had a rich musical legacy.
Nevertheless the main voice does not stand out as necessary, give you the greetings and harmonic vocal arrangement, brilliant and touching. This arrangement deserves a new recording and played by a real choir. Congratulations great job!
Loved it, thanks so much for the time and talent you've put into something so lovely. Now I must check out your other offerings. Blessings to you and yours.
I liked it! In spite of all the bad comments this video has recieved, I think it's a good version because it doesn't sound like a concert hall recording but something much more intimate, more like a group of people singing at someone's house, and I think this music relates much more to this than to a concert hall :D
the voice is bad sorry to say nice effort but classical music and sing in english it just doesnt match, like mozart said, only latin and german spoken songs for classical songs...b
Magnificent! I know this has been up for a while. I just wanted to congratulate you for your fine work! I am sure Vaughan Williams, wherever he is, is proud this!
You sound just fine...always strange how people rip into others when given a chance....I give you credit for putting yourself out there...always plenty of people to take shots from the sidelines
Well, I am an opera singer and while this is not operatic (wasn't meant to be I'm sure)... I would say... good job!!! It's not perfect but it's really pretty darn good especially the imaginative arrangement! Hey bud, why don't you record it again with your new mics and sound board.
This is impressive, but it sounds like the tracks have been slowed to meet the low register. Very pretty, though. You have a very distinctive voice, sir.
This is very good. The main thing is that the soloist's voice is too dark. Also, the dynamics are a little limited. So brighten up the tone, and give the artistry a little more energy and this piece will really come to life.
Loch Lomond song lyrics and music are famed throughout the world. Sung by bands such as Runrig, Celtic Horizon,Corries,Beggars Row and many others. It is a true story of two Jacobites captured by the English and due to be hanged at Carlisle. Then the English Lord decides to set free the unmarried man and hang the married man as an example. The idea was that the free man would tell everyone what would happen if they fought for their freedom again. But the Jacobite .......continued
.......... But the Jacobite to be hanged said to the other "you take the high road, and I'll take the low road and I'll be in Scotland afore ye" The meaning of this is that to the Celtic man of Scotland the high road is the road of the living and the low road is the road of those who have passed into the spirit world through death. He believed that he would be with his wife before the free man.
I absolutely love this version. The voice is hauntingly beautiful and as always this song brings tears to run unashamedly down my cheeks. Thank you so much for sharing with us.
Badass: thanks for this! It is a lovely choral version of Vaughan Williams arrangement I did not previously know of. And I'm just as proudly Scottish as any of those nationalistic wankers whining down below. Good on ya mate!
i suppose i can understand people's sense of a lack of energy/fervor in the musical execution of this piece, but overall, this is very impressive (and even beautiful!) for being one person.
My musical qualifications consist entirely of two years of high school band and a secondary role in a musical...but for what it's worth, I think this rendition is incredible. Whenever I need a break from Runrig's version and want to hear a rendition that has gravity and weight appropriate for the song's story, I come back to this. Great job.
In fact, I think you really did well in making this short film, and I do enjoy this very much. Your soft and gentle voice calms many people including me, especially, and I've listened to this film for almost one year but I just found out those harshy, unpleasant and insulting comments a few minutes ago...what I trying to say is I really like and vote for what you did! Not only the music but your passion touches many people, so please do leave those boring commonts alone!
Thank you. Although I cannot understand Scottish, but I appreciate the peace and serenity in this song. It makes me feel better in some blue night. Please don't be frustrated by those ugly words but cheer up. I am sure there are still many people like me that appreciate your works. Thanks again
I have this on my favorites. There are times when I ...just have to hear it. What makes ones heritage and blood stand open-armed to welcome this sound? There are shores and hills I've never seen...yet my forefathers...God Bless them...have.
And so let us rejoice in their memory...and live in their history. For the heritage which courses through these viens is part of what makes the intangibles...the haunting sound of an age transfixes us.
I love this arrangement.Your voice is wonderful.I believe you have some fans here.I think your voice is so comforting.I don't know how people who cannot sing get famous. You are MUCH better than these singers of today. This is my opinion, and I'm sticking to it.I wish that I would have come across your video sooner, because that would have meant that I could have been enjoying your singing longer;oh,well, better late than never, will continue to listen.Sandie
anyone who says anything negative about your recording is jealous and by the looks of things are battling with their own inadequacies. Your recording was heartfelt and obviously sung with a real passion. Anyone who criticises you obviously doesn't understand anything about the purpose of music. Very touching recording.
I'm actually related to the late Ralph Vaughan Williams. This is an excellent rendition, and I'm very glad to hear it. You could tell at times that it was recorded on a cheap mic, but it just brought home how talented you are to be able to make it sound so professional regardless!! Well done! 5 stars!
This is beautiful. Props to you, dude! Is this a published arrangement or did you arrange it yourself? And do you really have that big of a range or did you alter your voice at some point? I seriously doubt I would have the patience to do something like this. This must have taken a lot of work. Great job! :-)
ok people he used his computer and its all his voice I've done plenty of recordings like this on garage band and they all suck it's nearly impossible to get a 'great' recording of something it's just something fun to do and passes the time. So stop judging it so harshly... it's not operatic it's choral and I wouldn't say though that the "haters should go die..." thats harsh... if you're going to critique something make sure you have an intelligent coment otherwise don't say anything..
