  • my dad and mom keep singing this it is so annoying but it is mostly my dad singing it.

  • Awesome stuff. I prefer almond joys but sometimes a I don't.

  • @SidJustice1 LOL!

  • I don't know why but it's kinda gay feel like nut

  • We're playing the logo game and my older sister asked a question about this song and none of my other siblings knew what the hell the song was lol now we can't stop singing the song haha awesome!

  • I remember when this came out...jeez I'm old

  • The Jingle was sung by Valerie Simpson of "Ashford & Simpson". She also sung the Budweiser jingle "When you say Bud..."

  • I remember this commercial very well from 1977 (I was 8 years old). I much prefered the mounds because I didnt really care for the almonds in the other one. Though I dont care for dark choclate that the mounds one was covered in. I much prefer milk chocolate then and now. If only they covered the mounds bar with milk chocolate instead of dark chocolate, then theyve got something!

  • Love this! Anyone know who the female vocalist is? ...sounds a little like Dolly Parton..

  • @julierob3 Not really sure, but she sounds like the young lady who did some of the "Schoolhouse Rock" songs.

  • @ 0:24 Is that Leo Sayer?

  • Wait... click on the video and hit play, then hit 8 repeatedly

  • sometimes I say this to people with a really severe tone in my voice. "sometimes you feel like a nut... sometimes... you DON'T."

  • Gotta love classic.:)

  • I love this video so much!

  • This commercial could never be made today. The junk food Nazis would have it banned.

  • our teacher sung this

  • The jockey is Kevin Daly who immigrated from County Tyrone, Ireland when he was 5. He grew up in the Tacony section of Philadelphia and was a jockey from the early 60's to the 80's. He rode at Keystone Park in Bensalem amoung other places up and down the east coast and in the mid-west. He has 4 grown kids and is now retired living on the road. Posted by his son Shawn.

  • @sedaly9 - Shawn - great to hear about some local Philly history involved in this commercial! (Yes, my screen name honors Richie Ashburn)

Hope your dad is doing OK - can he stay away from racetracks in his retirement? For those unfamiliar, Keystone Park is now known as Parx Casino and Racetrack.

Bill from Bucks County, now in Lebanon County, PA

a/k/a OldsVistaCruiser (my car screen name)

  • we have to sing this in choir

  • LOL

  • its like a boy and girl then right nuts and no....nvrmind

  • Very cool and dangerous Jockey stunt! Never forgot it.

  • The cool part is the jockey stunt. I remembered seeing it back in the late 70's and never forgot it. Great to see again, and i wonder who the jockey was.

  • I didn't realize that this commercial was quite so old, but of course I remember it, especially the hook line ("sometimes you feel like a nut") and the background singers saying "yeah yeah yeah"...

  • my parents were singing this yesterday when the new commercial came on with just the toon so i had to search it up lolzz

  • LMAOO @0:23 mmmm yeh;)

  • @devanlp There are MOUNDS of coconut!

  • my mom and dad sing this ALLL THHEE TIIIIME...now I know what they are referring too.

  • LoL

  • A classic jingle...perfection is perfection, no matter the decade.

  • That jingle was marketing gold...goofy, but what a brilliant tag line.

  • my name is peter and my dads name is paul LOL

  • @p154831 If your mom's name is Mary, then you should probably start a band.

  • @drtyfknmouth HAHA GUESS WHAT HER NAME IS MARIA

  • Peter Paul Almond Joy - it stands for the Holy Spirit. If you've met Jesus face to face, you'll get it. On the physical plane, the sugar will kill your teeth.

  • Wow. It's even more obnoxious than I remember it being. I need to stop getting high.

  • @scabbybuttcrack LMAO!

  • This song is for bisexuals. "Sometime you feel like a nut sometimes you don't"

  • Isn't that the same girl that sings in "School House Rock" on Saturdays when we were kids back in the good ole days? Think about it.

  • @iluvlucie225

Possibly, although I'd have to look it up. The SHR bits were created by an advertizing company.

  • *Classic* Vid!

    I <3 AlmondJoy!

  • this is the original and best one! they did it over a few different times with different people singing it and different scenarios

  • Okay, THIS is the one I remember. Nyeah Nyeah Nyeah.

  • This jingle has remained unchanged for a really long time (except I guess it's not "Peter Paul" Mounds and "Peter Paul" Almond Joy" anymore. I don't care for this candy myself, but it's a catchy jingle. When was the last time they used it?

  • Unless, of course, it's Mexican food. Mexican food from Mexico is delicious. Seriously though -- will there be a way to tell by the packaging the origin of the goods? I think they're required to write "made in Mexico" on imports from there.

  • I was 9 when this spot came out. Holy cow, if we had a dollar for everytime my freinds & I sang this song. Forget that...I'd take a dollar for every time our parents told us to shut up about it! That and the "I'm a Pepper" song!

  • @HGbunny i was 7 & yeah I remeber kids saying this in school all the time it was a Good jingle, commercial song. 70's TV these are great to see again.

  • LOL!! my dad still sinqs this i know this and i was born in '96 lol

  • same here my dad sings it weirder tho and im '96 too

  • lol mine to thats y i looked this up XDD onlyi was in '97

  • I don't like coconut candy.

  • OMFG ude i had to watch it 3 times then i saw eric forman......

  • In the spring of 1977, I was only 19 and working part-time then.

  • Best song in a commercial ever..

  • So Hershey's is manufactoring in Mexico? I wouldn't eat anything coming out of there..

  • I remember this well. I was 12 in 1977 and glued to the tube, like everyone else. Funny thing - today, both Almond Joy and Mounds are considered junk food.

  • i was 12 in 77 too, what a small world. lol

  • I was, 13 in 77' and remember this commercial well.

  • Almond Joy and Mounds are now Hershey products, which is a shame because, as someone from that area, I'm boycotting their products because they are shutting down some of their plants in PA to send the jobs to a new plant in Mexico.

On a lighter vein, I used to joke that this was the most bisexual commercial in history. "Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't!"

"Almond Joy's got nuts, Mounds don't" - Almond Joy would refer to a man, Mounds would refer to a woman's breasts! ;-) ;-)

  • That's amazing! You beat me to it on both counts. I thought I invented that joke. AND, I feel the same way about the "outsourcing".

  • Yes I agree--this is the definitive version. I wish they would air this commercial today.

  • This is the best rendition of this jingle. The later versions with different singers (and regular people singing it) weren't as good.

  • This commercial seals it--I watched way too much TV as a kid. I was able to sing along with every word.

  • doobie, you don't suppose there was already a hint about that in your name, do you?

  • Guy in the last scene is enjoying that way too much.

  • How much did they cost back then?

  • About 65¢

  • if my memory is correct 30 or 35 cents

  • I remember the jingle, and I'm 23 yrs old. I think they used it in the 90's as well.

  • They're still using that jingle, aren't they?

  • I could be wrong, but I think they still use the hook 'sometimes you feel like a nut', but not the jingle so much.
