In latinamerica, in my country Ecuador, I always tought these scenes were the normal ones in the movies... Now I realize they were added for TV broadcasts...
this was never in the 2006 DVD anthology of superman only from what i remember bc i saw the superman III & IV Tv cut deleted extended scenes on TBS Superstation only the first 20 minutes uptill i think when lana attempts to reach clack but he's not at the office with the phone ringing thats how far the superman III 2006 edition US Edition went
Threre was a small clip also on the tv edit when Brad is on the cart and thrown into the elevator, a lady in the elevator looks at him and says, NO WONDER THEY SENT HIM BACK.
You're right. My grandfather recorded this on VHS from Showtime back in 1984. On his copy the surgery scene was left out. On the one I recorded, it was included. I guess it all depends on where you've seen this movie.
No one recalls the days when the NY subway hits a third rail gap and the lights go out. Funny how the scene with the train approaching was ripped from the Taking of Pelham 123.
the patient being operated on resembles james tolkan aka for such roles as principal strickland hands down to the classic trilogy of back to the future& Lt lubick from the he-man movie masters of the universe
ps can you post more deleted scenes that didn't make the 2006 superman III Special edition i'd like to see the extended computer fight with superman and the old lady in the elevator after what happened to brad no wonder they sent it back thanks if you can upload thanks
I wonder if anyone here ever read the novelization for the film, by William Kotzwinkle. It's very, very dark and sarcastic and the surgeon in the hospital scene has one line in the book, something to the effect of "One wrong move and this man will be a brain-damaged moron". The fight at the gas station is a bit less comical, and it's revealed that Gus was expelled from high school after a teacher "backed into his open switchblade", if memory serves.
Hospitals have emergency generators for this sort of thing (you know, evil computers sucking off the power liens). I used to think it was so frightening that the computer took over and turned that woman into a robot, but now it just seems kind of ludicrous.
I actually thought the surgeon sounded kind of like Frank Oz.
the hospital quick scene with harold ramis was not in the final cut. you must have always seen it on network tv..or they added it to the recent dvd release (which i dont have)
frank oz (the voice of yoda) as the brain surgeon.

The brain surgery looks more like they are preforming a post-mortem and probably why it got edit out in theatrical version.

In some TV versions the Surgery scene is left in and some it's left out. It's not really a deleted scene
