The philosophy of SunTzu on War are applicable to any "Conflict or Struggle". His teachings span time, space and type (of conflict, in politics...while not physically violent, still a struggle for victory....therefore requires strategy). I suggest performing "linguistic algebra" and replace words (variable substitution) of analogy to fit any cause/revolution/struggle.

actually I think Ron Paul is doing pretty well in following this philosophy.

If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear
