I liked the video seems extremely short experience in this I would like to be slower. and have audio mention, the tools you use ... thank you very much but do not have the same language I work with 3dmax in English .. espero entiendas mi traduccion ejeje
bay be its a good thing to repost this video, with an extra voice track placed over it?
if you have 3Dmax i bet you have premier? so talk over this video what you are doing in a clear tone and than you have a good video, this now is just a wast of time,
specially because there are parts in this clip that are usefull,
lack of narration wouldn't be such a problem if the video was in higher resolution so we can see what you're doing, like this it's more a demonstration of workflow then an actual tutorial.
hi, this is really cool! im also trying to learn 3ds Max, hmmm how did you cut the polygons using another polygon to create the door or the window? thanks! this is nice!
"Create a cylinder and position it so it intersects your object, then select your object, go to the create tab, and select compound objects->boolean, click the 'select object' button and select the cylinder. (the default operation is to subtract the second object from the first object)"
you saying to think wisely and to look out about the polygons. but i want to know how can i do that when the boolien operation making real mess in the object? how to make do not make to much polygons or edges?
give yourself challenges to model low poly models. Limit yourself to let's say 500 poly's. That way, you'd know how to place polygons in the place it needs. Meaning, you'd use your polygons wisely :)
Really good advice actually. I did a couple of months work experience at a gaming company modeling for the Nintendo DS. Each level was restricted to 1500 polys and some of the characters to 20ish.
Before then I'd just model and not care about polys coz my computer could handle it easy. Now I always try and have the minimum I can and my scenes and models are so much cleaner and easier to work with.
I've got so much respect for those guys that make 3D games, and even more for the lower engines.
yup, I found with people I work with, if you come from game modelling background, your models tent to be more clean than say guys who start knocking out high poly models.
3ds max is complicated but so is most of the things. Unfortunately, this is a necessary complication which gives the best result. Plus most, if not all architectural studios use this program to either model or render.
don't give up your hopes, practice, practice and practice :)
Indeed it is hard :), but it is worth learning. PC games like The elder scrolls Oblivion, Fallout 3 etc. is modelled in either Maya or 3Ds max. And when you learn each tool (Not all of course) Then you can get away with it pretty easy.
there are more people, and they got 10 times the experience.
My friend have been using 3ds max for 3 years now. His models are still just average. While some of the top modelers have 10+ years of moeling.
3D in general takes time.
hence, even id you know each and every tool: You won't get the result. You need Creative knowledge and being able to imagin what you make. Not many got that. Not be atleast =)
No of course not, like myself i know many of the tools in 3Ds max, but still i can't make any good model, because i ain't very creative.
Though what i meant was those who say 3Ds max suck balls, because it's too hard too use, if they learn the tools, then it would be just as easy as using the less complicated and advanced 3D programs.
Though 3ds max is just as simple, but it got lots more. So any newbie who tries to master every modifier in a day, will have more preblems than anyone in Blender doing the same.
I myself would say 3d is hard to learn, not 3ds max. being creative is hard. I might picture myself a sweet monster head, and the next day I just made a face of my grand mother =/
I am having trouble modelling the 'Rascoon' from the 3ds max 8 bible. If I were to email the tutorial to someone could they make a movie of them doing it? I really need help because I dont know how to select multiple polygons.
I tried to keep the topology clean, I think as long as the edge flow is clean, it doesnt matter what tool to use. But I understand, I was told to use less boolean tool. Hows the Pro boolean tool then, I have Max 8, not 9 :(
Yeah, lots of cleaning up to do for game geometry, but use what works for you. I use booleans sometimes, but not good unless you know how the geometry should be.
yeah I was hoping for something better than boolean, #1 issue I have with making buildings is dealing with boolean, probably should just use spline modeling, but I think that would be a nightmare in and of itself.

Resolution is poor on the command panel operations, It would help to have the
text legible and some audio. Lightning speed for modeling though ,even before
x2.

You are right. bollean tool is messy but it takes time to get the hang of it. Its better if you create it manually by placing the verts where needed

I agree, that program sucks because they made it as hard to use as possible.
bozodclown98 2 years ago
Do you mean 3ds max sucks?
It all depends on your need, whatever you need, if you can get it done elsewhere at the lowest cost of time and money, then what the hell.
MWarsame2 2 years ago
The program is rediculously complicated to use, most time is spent trying to figure out why the hell something isn't working.

good but you use too much the boolean tool so you don't have a clean mesh. Try to use fewer the boolean or the Pro boolean tool.
