This fixed several problems I have had while editing in Vegas.
A problem I still have: My preview screen shows around 3-9 FPS (Video files are: 60FPS) is there a way to have it play at 30-60FPS while previewing my edit? Thanks.
@TheFraudOfDestiny It's just how fast your computer can preview it, I'm guessing it's a laptop not an 8GB RAM desktop? Make do with it :/ Use the arrow keys if you need to be more precise.
@bennyboy6761 Heheh, yep, 4GB RAM laptop. I found out if you change the Draft quality or if you add color correction it will affect the playback. I've been editing a lot since that comment. Lol.
More useful than I was expecting, some good new tips - thanks!
Do you always disable the resampling on your clips (including high fps PC footage)? Smart resampling seems to look a lot smoother but get some ghosting, so Im never sure which is best to go for!
I think you should continue to make more of these general type videos rather than showing how to create specific effects like VCP does. Otherwise like you say youll probably get 100s of clones with the exact same thing!
awesome tutorial. i'm sure they're people who are similiar to me in the sense that even this tutorial was a little advanced. You should really go in depth with vegas from the most beginner stuff up to exremely hard effects. I think that would make a great series.
@StudioN9ne It's still there. The OUTPUT was clipping because of the INPUT of the music was too hot. You need to lower the INPUT or it will still be there. I do ausio visual work for a living and deal with this a lot. I'm not trying to start an argument, still really enjoy all of your vids, but by lowering the master, you are just lowering the WHOLE volume and not the source volume that is peaking.
@Ronin6337 I know what you are saying, but this simply how vegas works. I will make a video and upload it privately if you need me to. Just take an mp3 that maxes out at 0dB and then boost the track it is on 12dB then cut the bus by, say, 20dB so in general it is quieter. According to you it should still be clipping but at a lower output volume. But no, there is no clipping. Its not considered an output until after it leaves the master.
This is an editing channel so most of the viewers have at least basic knowledge of these things. Just pointing this out. But you are right to start from basics nonetheless :)
@lololFilip I think your referring to adding reverb. Its a basic effect you can do in all the editing suites you mentioned. Reverb, for example is an effect that alters the audio sound to sound as if its being played in a 'Large Hall'
I never new that about re-merging the audio. I always used audio envelopes to remove the unwanted noise or like you say, replace the gun sounds completely.
This was actually SUPER helpful! The last bit about the gunshots being loud but the fluff around it being muted was like ... SO what I wanted to do in a video a week or so back but I didn't know how! AND the slow-mo bit was helpful, I have a video up that sounds terrible because I didn't do that fix to it and it sounds all distorted and shit :\

Nice tutorial, but you should actually lower the sound of the music, not the master. Your music will still be clipping but at a lower volume.
Ronin6337 1 year ago
@Ronin6337 Not true, the clipping will not occur unless the audio output exceeds 0dB in the master.
