There is definitely some emo influenece on Gallows' music. I read an interview with one of the guitarists who stated Glassjaw as an influence. So there is definitely some emo in there. Obviously not much similarity to the bands that are labelled emo these days. But this isn't straight up hardcore, there is emo in there for sure.

I do like them, and I couldn't care less whether people use the word emo or not to describe their music. I don't know if you've read my comment out of context, but this was a reply to steluvsbex's comment, which expressed surprise at the idea that Gallow's music contained any 'emo bits' ... I was merely pointing out, their music is indeed partly influenced by emo and as such it seems perfectly acceptable to describe parts of their music as 'emo bits'.

I suspect steluvsbex is maybe only aware of the current generation of emo. But if you listen to Gallows' music there is a clear influence from late 90s/early 2000's emocore/post-hardcore/whatever the fuck you want to call it bands such as Glassjaw etc. I also don't see why people should stop using the word emo, a genre which has existed in various forms for around 20 years, just because it has become unfashionable.
