  • When I saw this production I was a young opera student...Best part was Ramey was shirtless..so I was able to watch close up with binoculars to see his technique!!!! Even shirtless he makes it look easy!!!!

  • I saw this production live at the met ...Ramey was great!!!

  • I love his voice, great interpretation!

  • Polgár is the best as Bluebeard, Ramey has no clue, what it is all about. Norman has some.

  • Great singing, great production - bad conducting, whoever is the culprit.

  • @AfroPoli The conductor might be James Levine.

  • @CalistoBassi Yes, it is Levine. I was at the performance in 1989

  • @vclchatte It's not uncommon though. I was just in a production of this opera and apparently the language is *terribly* hard to learn... better this way I suppose. Plus, I think it makes opera more accessible... especially a rather abstract one like this. Just my two cents. :-)

  • Just superb!!! Two great singers with the ability to be "inside" the music. Ramey is absolutely the best Bluebeard I have ever heard.

  • One of the best Met telecasts ever! Ramey and Norman were mesmerizing.

  • @sharky123 This really was one of the best Met telecasts. Ramey and Norman were perfect. Ramey was an elegant and charasmatic Bluebeard and Norman completely convincing as a young girl. Even the "striptease" worked perfectly as Judith figuratively and literally stripped bare Bluebeard's inner personality and soul.

  • He is so perfect in this role!

  • Beautiful, great singers. TY
