i would do some research to answer your own questions before asking them. BUT ill help you, Gunner is an enlisted flyer position, very few are selected. Fighter pilots are Officer positions, look up the 2011 Military Pay chart and tell me who makes more. if you wanna be a pilot you have to first ask yourself "do i wanna go to college?" thats the first question.
aerial gunners either man the turret or are loaders for the cannons on ac 130s right? do you get to pick wether you can man the turret? and also do you get to pick wether your on helicopters or airplanes?
No, in the military you NEVER get to "pick" your job, but rather you'll make a "wish" list, and based on what they need and how good you are, you can get your dream job.
