look at the expressions on theyre faces in the audience at 1:10, why do they have those brainwashed grins on their faces after such a banal statement?
@funknotik yeah - why would he - think about it ! I do not claim to know , maybe he wants publicity (Deepak has a huge following) or maybe some other reason.
WTF are you talking about? Stealing the show? Don't be upset someone else has an other perspective and you have no" name." If you want one get one. Where is your contribution besides these post on how he know's very little.... that statement alone is weak. What are you basing that off of? It is to generic so I wait for a witty uneducated reactive response. Michio if anything is limited and biased, he put down a bum as if his choice to be a "Scientist" was "better". Nah dude, you just did you.
I don't know shit about quantum theory, but I was under the impression that the reason particles exist in a certain way is because of photons striking them and "collapsing their wave function" (whatever that means, lol). And this whole business of consciousness being the arbiter is just mystic BS. But here, Kaku seems to agree with Chopra that consciousness has something to do with it. Is it really conscious observation that determines reality, or just bouncing photons?
Deepak Chopra seems to have his heart set on the ideal that the world, as we know it, doesn't exist outside of consciousness, that consciousness determines reality, because "all we have is our perception". This theory is incompatible with modern science. Matter is primary, not consciousness. Consciousness is simply a reflection of the external world, given to us by our senses, and stored in memory. Consciousness does not create nature, it is nature that creates consciousness. Matter is primary.
If you believe that nature is primary and human thought is secondary, than you are a materialist, and your epistemology is in full compliance with modern science. Sensation is not a wall or fence, but a bridge, indeed, a direct connection between consciousness and the external world. Futhermore, matter becomes evermore complex with time, from the simplest of particles to complex ecosystems, and finally, the human mind, which is indeed the supreme product of matter organized in a definite way.
When talking about this philosophical concept, the question is how thinking relates to being, how consciousness relates to the material world. The "self" is a reflection of the world that exists outside of it, its sensations are images of the external world, the world that exists outside of your mind. Nature is not a product of the mind, however, the mind is a product of nature.
The mind isn't primary, nature is. Consciousness can be compared to a mirror. When talking about a mirror, the reflector, in relation to the thing being reflected, the mirror is not primary, the thing being reflected, that exists outside of the mirror is primary. The reflection is conditional, the thing being reflected is unconditional. You can't have a reflection without something being reflected, that exists independently of the reflector. Therefore, matter is primary and mind is secondary
@PsycheDelectic i have heard michio kaku saying this whole thing again nd again on interviews....he doesnt even change a word....hes like afraid to interact with deepak on emotional levels....without conciousness, u wouldnt be concious to know what matter is????in short to have LIFE, u goota be after conciousness cuz its the highest level that people can talk off.deepak problem is that he talks about consiousness but doesnt practice it so it can benefit the people....
without matter, organized in a definite way, there is no consciousness. Matter evolves over billions of years of complexification, evolution isn't limited to biology, it goes back to the big bang. Human consciousness is the supreme product of matter organized in a definite way, able to reflect the world around it and obtain absolute truth.
"Human knowledge is not (or does not follow) a straight line, but a curve, which endlessly approximates a series of circles, a spiral."
He's probably smarter than you. But yes, it does seem like Deepak is trying to stump Michio but Michio just ends up lecturing him and in that way "wowing" Deepak and everybody can see the "EGO" that Deepak has, it radiates(and it isn't a good thing.) Especially if you are a spiritual teacher who teaches about "getting rid of Ego."
I love the guy, I've read a few of his books and I've seen many of his interviews and speeches. But he always says the same argument verbatim. I'm starting to think he's a robot.

why do you call the world external, then? your senses gives it to your... well, consciousness, right? you're talking in circles here.

what then, is that "self" reflected on? if you're saying the mind is not primary, then how can anything be reflected on it?
