Few days ago I bought 9 Talking Heads CD and DVD; I found such video, really amazing, awesome. Great bass scale, I am a bassman (not prof), I hope I will find others to play TH here in Rome; I see only a guitar.
If you watch their live footage chronological, you'll notice all of their instrumental technique improves drastically as the years go by. Of course, they also surrounded themselves with better instrumentalists and seemed to learn a lot from them (especially Tina).
Look at that stack of PA speakers blocking the audience view of Chris Franz. Man PA's have come a long way in 30 years, smaller, they sound a tone better, and linear arrays are now hung from the ceiling so they're out of the way. I remember when going to a Neil Young or Rush show would have your ears ringing for a week and they sounded like crap compared to concerts I go to now.
Judy's in the bedroom, scouting up locations........WOW!!!! I have not heard this song in ages. I can remember playing this song, over, and over, and over!! And staring at all those pictures they took of every little part of their bodies and placed them on the cover of the 33 vinyl!! Saying OMG!!..thats an awful lot of POLAROID pictures! ha ha ....glad I got to see it in a "live" version, well done and thank you....Oh and by the way, the Bass guitar is play by a chick...and played well ;O)
I was at this show, seated a few rows from the stage, dead center, and just a few feet from Andy Warhol! Afterwards we snuck into the party downstairs and hung out with Tina Weymouth and then Joey Ramone. Later we met Chris Frantz and David Byrne. It was pretty heady stuff for then 15 year old me, a night I'll never forget. Whoever posted this video has my profound thanks, I remembered the entire show was taped, and I've been searching for it for many years. I'll keep looking for the rest !
i've got just this one. i found it in a dvd included with the remastered version of more songs. i hope youtube won't remove it too. anyway i really envy you! :)
HOLY CRAP. I was at THIS show. 5th row seats. Andy Warhol sat behind us. I remember saying...I have better seats than Andy Warhol...Life changing event
@Brock2097 "tell that to David Byrne, the other members wanted to get back together but he's completely against the idea"
That's true but they only wanted to do it for money. For Byrne to do it he must have really wanted to feel it from the gut to do it. Obviously something to this day is bugging him to be able to get back together with the rest.
David is usually the one who gets flack for being a "jerk" but the other members have their faults too
The filming is great as well - at about the four minute mark you can see the very notes JH is playing, and then in the background Tina (O Tina)doing the most gorgeous stuff with the bass. In fact, this is the first time I have ever wanted to be a bass guitar.
I am starving for clips of their 78-79 shows - this is wonderful - what a treat - I preferred them as a 4-piece, and this mix is nice and meaty - big thanks for the great upload!
Many thanks, dadaisticsurgeon, for uploading this! Plan to cover this song hopefully with the band. Sounds like Jerry's mic is turned down though. Not to sound too greedy, but would you happen to have more from this show? This is from Brick dvd, right? I'd like to have this show in full quality.
Wish I could find a job.

Excellent! I thought that this was lost for good. In the movie, but not in the video or CD.

Actually her bass is out of tune, the high A she hits repeatedly in the verse is off by at least a half tone.

Fantastic live, but why no more camera on Tina? Flawed.

Sigh ... Tina! I heard her technique wasn't that good. Her sound was though and yep - her bass owned this song. Sheer class.

If you really listen to the lyrics, David Byrne was talking about YouTube way back in the 1970's!

Uh, not really. It's about people turning off the tv and having real lives instead.
The Talking Heads were so blasted good -- made watching the Grammies last night painful.
