He's great but his songs really do sound the same, same rythym, arpeggios chugging throughout, and that ulleann pipe sound, and his awesome voice is a bonus.

I agree all of his later work, sounds rather similar (in a awesome way if that makes sense?) BUT his new album planet roll call, sounds oddly different, some are similar but then some he's usuing vocal tracks as the actual beat, it's a amazing work, I would advise anyone to go and order/download it

The instrument he is playing is called the Tubular Hertz, a more mechanical version of the laser harp. It consists of iron pipes juxtaposed like organ pipes. Pulling the pipe will trigger a synthesizer sound.
