  • never saw a concert or, before, a video. i thought i had heard all the Clancy and Makem music. Oh Where have the laddies gone & why'd yeah leave us. I sorrow at your passing and joy to having found your legacy. Sing on, Sing on!! Yet grieve I for the day I'll to join the angels to list once more your iconic sound.!

  • Don't get me wrong, still a bloody good version. I heard Eric Bogle sing this in the early 70s when I appeared at the same folk venue in Sydney. John Currie, another early folkie, made it a hit on the radio. I am now pushing 70 and still singing it at pubs and clubs. Thanks for replying.

  • Wow... :-o

  • the best version by far .

  • @saoirse2011 Do yourself a favor and get hold of Eric Bogle's version, he wrote it. The original and still the best.

  • @timhately09

We will have to agree to disagree, but the best of luck to you and yours.

  • My God you would think Liam lost his legs....He sang this song like no other has....OUTSTANDING!!!

  • Liam Clancy sings a haunting song like no one else can. What a talent!
