Oh, just to make myself clear, I didn't work for Sallie Mae when I say I worked for customer service. It was for different companies having nothing to do with loans or student loans or anything of the sort, so I can't tell you what they do with their recordings.
I think it's funny you said that for "quality assurance purposes." That has to do with what they call QA, or quality assurance. I worked for customer service, and they record the calls so that they can evaluate their customer service representatives. That's what they mean by that.
@jmelkis I don't see why he can't use the "quality assurance purposes" statement. He might want to listen to the conversation afterwards to get better feedback at how to deal with those bastards better for "quality assurance" on his part :-)
FYI: Sallie Mae was just protecting you. There's a policy in this company which is the NPI or Non-Public-Information which they impose very strictly. They are not allowed to disclose any personal information to any third party whether it's your mom, dad or relative but you (customer). If you record a call then share the recorded call with others, very important info are being distributed, and i'm sure that you are very aware of identity theft. This is what they are avoiding.
Sallie Mae loans have destroyed my future.
