The perspective was half the point of the movie, using an original (for the genre) filming style to add a spin on the monster movie format. If it didn't have this it would have lost a lot of it's impact.

My friends just don't learn to shut up, so if you don't like it, go to the theatre and record it for yourself. But be careful, it is REALLY hard to do it in a manner that the theatre cleanup doesn't see you.
