The helicopter was mainly flawed because of the choice of a low power 2-stroke engine. Lots of vibration stressing welds and components and the inherent unreliability of a 2-stroke. Poor autoration characteristics also didn't help. No need to mention not being trained to fly it!
@splotsplot I'd definitely rock this one around! no worries at all! I love that turbine!! No different then having a turbine rotorway, or a helicycle, Which by the way I am in love with that lil thing!! Cannot wait to get me one!!

That being said, Turbine engine, proper weight and balance, and teh upgraded drive components, and a Heli is a Heli.. I'd Fly it if it checked out! I mean c'mon.. we've all been in some pretty bumped up Robinsons!
Can I ask you what the Turbine Transition costed you in this 500 and what kit, if any did you use? I may be acquiring a mini 500, and want to do the turbine transition immediately
Wouldn't catch me dead in one of these. Seriously? A two stroke motor? I have snowmobiles that motors blow in every day! I'm a snowmobile mechanic and trust me, a rotax powerplant is not reliable.

Did you guys re-engine it soon after or did the feds just get it wrong. As to the vib ck, how/what was the out come? Looks like alot of fun. Is anyone using it as a ag platform or any other municiple roles?
A turbine! Sweet. How does it fly? This guy has the vib box in his lap? He wont even take his hand off the collective to put his Dave Clarks on. Does this lil' bird have any mast bumping history? Any probs w/gnd res? Sure looks smooth anyway. Wish the ding dong w/the camera heard of tri-pods.....Anyway, hope all is still good w/these birds.
they did go under, I heard that they had sloppy manufacturing practices, and got a bunch of customers mad at them, even death threats, so they closed the company. I think they had lots of orders when they closed so it wasn't due to lack of money, just hearsay
Sort of. There are a lot of hangar queens that are being converted to turbine or alternate recip power. This helo has issues, most of which are not beyond remedy however; the Rotax 582 in this application is both underpowered and unreliable. It is either directly or indirectly responsible for most of the accidents and problems.
